I think how much money you get depends on your parent's income and how much they/you contribute. So if they're making 120+ thou, then yeah, you probably won't get anything.

Yah. Bummer, my parents make a decent amount, but they really aren't contributing much. All the debt is going to be on me!

What do you mean "gotten anything"? You mean the official acceptance package?

Yes, I did, about a week after being accepted. Since you're in BC, I'd give it a bit more.

I don't think they received my April report card, because it says that they got my Electronic Ontario Transcipt on March 11th, which is my Feb report card.

When you click, View Application Status, what does it say at the very bottom of the page? (it should say something about transcripts).

I'm pretty sure March 11th means that's the say they bothered to request OUAC for our transcript and got access to it...the marks on the transcript will update on its own so the date probably won't change.

martin; that sucks. I put down that my parents couldn't contribute anything for next year, so i'm pretty much on my own as well. If anything you can try applying next year or look for campus jobs if you need to

Oh, really? Wow, did not know that.

I guess it doesn't matter. It's not like they'd reject anyone if their marks slipped a little. I mean for me personally, I estimate finishing grade 12 with around 87%, which is what I'm projecting the cut-off is for arts this year.

Make sure you report back after the rendezvous.

By the way, I assume everyone here is Canadian - have you guys sent your "proof of being a Canadian resident" to McGill yet?

It doesn't say, but I assume about a month before classes start so they can log in tuition info and everything. Another thing to worry about frown

Do you have any specific questions you're asking at the rendezvous or are you just going to check out the crowd/get any info you missed?

I believe they want these documents as soon as possible. On page 11 of the Red Booklet, it states: "Make sure to send us clear, complete and legible copies of your documents. Send these to us as soon as possible so that we may update your file before the start of classes". I am not sure how soon is "possible".

I may also go to the Rendez-Vous tomorrow, though I am doubting whether it is necessary after having gone to Campus-Connect. The main issue is that my parents are divorced, so I have to take them each seperately to events at McGill. It's a chore.

Martin,
Don't worry. There are lots of opportunities to get scholarships once the academic year starts in University. Also, there are lots of scholarships outside of University scholarships for undergrads. It's a lot of work to complete all those applications, but for every few applications, one of them is bound to be considered for a scholarship. At least that's how I see it.

So how was it? Did it end yet? Was it informative, etc?

I went. The presentation didn't answer my questions, it was just generalized stuff that you can find on the web site. The tour was AWESOME! My guide was hilarious and knew everything about the campus and what it had to offer. (Plus we got ice cream)

Also here are my Rez picks - if I don't get my top 4 I'm just getting an apartment with my friend:

MORE Houses (Single)
Molson Hall
McConnell Hall
Gardner Hall
Douglas Hall (Single)
Greenbriar (Single)
Solin Hall (Single)
MORE Houses (Double)
Solin Hall (Double)
Greenbriar (Double)
RVC (Single)
RVC (Double)
New Rez

Can you tell I'm poor and want my own room? Heh.

is that the deposit?

Btw, you can also rank dio & prez, which is cheaper than douglas and is a huge single room.

Here are my choices:

1. Greenbriar single
2. Dio/Prez single
3. BMH single
4. RVC single
5. MORE single
6. Douglas single
7. Greenbriar double
8. Dio/prez double
9. BMH double
10. RVC double
11. MORE double
12. Douglas double
13. Solin single
14. Solin double

even though I'm guaranteed for my first choice of rez, i thought i should make a list just in case something strange happens to me and I end up not getting my first choice.

Hmm. A bit of switch around.

1. Dio Single
2. MORE single
3. Douglas single
4. Molson single
5. Gardner single
6. McConnell single
7. Greenbriar single
8. MORE double
9. New Rez double
10. RVC single
11. Solin single
12. Greenbriar double
13. RVC double
14. Solin double

I'm about 60% sure rankings will stay that way.
