That's cool. Yeah, I know a few people who applied to McGILL aRTS but they rejected their offer, and another of my friends is deciding between Concordia/McGill/Ryerson. I hope I have someone there with me, but that's more my "what if I don't make any friends" side talking.

I'm so excitedd. Honestly, when is this school going to end??

like one more month left !!

I thought I'd be completely friggin free after midterms.. and now I have a data test and bio test tomorrow that I've done 0 work for LOL.
Wowwww. So how much can our average drop? seriously? At this point I'm getting sort of scared that McGill will retract their offer.

The thing is, McGill still hasn't gotten my April marks. On that electronic report card, it says they received it on March 11.

Let's see me marks on my Feb report card

Functions 91
English 95
Kines 91
Bio 87
Politics 92

average 91.2

My april report card average was 91.6

Current marks (estimate)
Functions 91
English 95
Kines 95
Bio 85
Politics 85
Calc 90
average 90.16

My main concerns are Politics (I absolutely BOMBED the biggest essay of the year, but I think I aced today's exam), bio (no explanation needed - apparently my teacher wants to shove as much stuff in one month as humanly possible), and Calc (yeah, the exam is going to repeatedly punch me in the face for 3 hours).

I'm nervous, though. Like, it's kind of funny to be all "I dont need to do any more work I've been accepted" but I will literally cry my eyes out and then keep them in a jar if McGill unaccepted me.

Are you non-semestered? Nice marks ;)
I didn't know they were going to change the date on the OUAC transcript received thing if they looked at midterms.. Thought they had them already. Mine says March 11th as well... does that mean they accepted me off of my first semester marks + ones i took in gr 11 only??

Yeah, I'm non semestered.

I guess they did. I just wish I'd known, because in Calc before the April report card, my teacher said we could drop our lowest test, which I did. My mark only went up 2 because of that. But of course, after the report, we had the 2 hardest tests ever where I got my lowest test mark for grade 12.

So yeah, now that I have the feeling programed in my brain (the one where you tried hard and STRESSEDDDDDD and it didn't pay off) and now I dont care.

But whatever, there are only 3 marks that may dramatically change. But yeah, I SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY doubt that McGill will look our marks over in July and then have this hassle of rejecting us and sending a letter to some random kid who's going to another university.

triple for emphasis batman

lol excellent.

I've got 4 out of my top 6 marks already completed.

The other two are Calc: 98, Data: 93. Possibly french, which is at a 90 right and has the potential to go up a little but I already have World Issues done at a 90...

Chances are that 98's gonna drop big time... I hope that one mark won't make a difference?
And I'm doing super super bad in bio right now and i've just sort of given up... haha, let's say my bio mark drops below 75,
last year the admission cut offs were like this:

87.5% Top 6;
80% in each English course in Top 6;
75% in each math + science course in Top 6

Since I have physics and chem done already and it's part of my top 6, my bio mark won't matter right? I keep second guessing myself.

WOW, 98! Way to go! Yeah, two sciences is all you need.

by the way, I checked the other page and yeah I joined the McGill group on Facebook. And I just had someone add me as their friends who's going to McG's too. My first new Facebook McGill friend. happy feet

By the way, I don't know if I'd said this before, but I'm kinda loving the people that are going next year. It's going to be an awesome class of 2012.

Lol I took last year's old calculus so it's basically a redo and the mark's not really a big deal. It's gonna go down for the vectors part since I've never done it before, haha.

you JUST joined facebook?! Wow lol
And I'm so joining that group once I officially accept. Any time now =D
meanwhile I'm glad to hear there will be awesomes peoples next year, I was reading through the intro section and wow, so many internationals.. haha big grin exicited!

I keep second guessing myself and start considering Queen's again, but then my mind transfers back to McGill in a couple seconds. iss crazy.

No, i joined facebook almost 2 years ago i think. I mean, people add each other as friends in that group, espcially if they're posting about the same topics. the first person to do so just added me, is what I mean. if that made sense.

Also about the unlimited thing - is the 10 bucks on top of the actual plan from provider?

Yeah, you pay your provider whatever minimal fee for your plan, like $20/month, then add $10 on top.. so $30/month

Edit: Sort of read through it more carefully, the plan seems really really tedious. You have to call, hang up, answer a call and dial a number everytime you make a call. Meh.

Yeah. I'm thinking I'll stick with Koodo. Their phones kind of suck, but so far it seems pretty up front. And 25 a month for basically all I need is pretty good. I'll keep searching, but so far no one is offering anything better.

I was wondering the same thing about marks. I hope my offer does not get retracted. BUT it really shouldnt unless you drop significantly like 10% Overall Average. Queens is asking me to not to drop my average below a 75%! I applied with a 94.2% so I think it must be similar with McGill. Imagine the pain staking process if they had to Retract the offers from people who dropped 3% - 5% between Mid Terms and Finals.

Do stress yourself out cheese

congrats heythereb! smile that's awesomeee!

And I really hope my offer doesn't get withdrawn after final marks :S..

Lol. I will cry if I have nowhere to go to next year.... and I think I am going to accept today smile

Do you have to decline all the offers on OUAC once you accept from McGill? Or is that automatic?

And I have Bell right now, it has AMAZING reception in montreal. Like I had 5 bars inside their metro/subways!! For some reason it sucks in TO and the GTA. I think koodo runs on GSM though and I don't know if it will be as clear. Meh.

I will still have some months left on my contract once school starts so I'll have to wait it out.

Yeah, there's a pretty decent Bell plan for 25 a month, with 100 local minutes, 1000 evening/weekend minutes and 1000 texts. The reception part is pretty important. But how often do you think we'd use our cell phones anyway (in terms of minute usage)? I picture it as a way to communication with people when you're meeting them, so like "Where are you? I'm here. OK, see you in 3 minutes". Everyone's pretty close to you anyway and Facebook is pretty universal now anyway. So I'm probably going to pick a bare minimum plan and see how it goes.

I like the LG Rumour, probably because I've been watching too much Gossip Girl and want a Sidekick.

about the retraction - I seriously doubt they would do that if your mark dropped by 5 percent. My bio teacher who went to McGill, said that you have to have your mark drop by like 20 percent or fail a course for them to contact you about retracting your admission offer. So unless you REALLY slack, I wouldn't worry about this for nothing.

oohhh. did you ask your bio teacher about mcgill? How did s/he like it? My civics teacher got one of his degrees there and said he loved it and highly recommended it. I think he was at RMC and he got to study at McGill for free or something.

I'm kind of scared to accept. it seems so final. And there's always that small chance of a retraction. Did you decline all your other offers on OUAC?

I typically use like 300min/month; but I have to phone my students and stuff for work quite a bit - and next year I won't be doing much of that. That bell plan sounds gooood. 100 + 1000 is probably plenty smile Will you be getting a phone in Montreal come August so you have a local Montreal plan? (I don't like a lot of bell's phones but LG rumor looks good. I need a phone with QWERTY haha. Go gossip girls! remember that episode where serena just tossed her cell phone in the garbage bin? I was like =\)

I didn't reject my offers on OUAC. That seems pretty final to me too. But I mean, it's not like I'm going back and forth on whether to go to McGill. McGill is my hardcore number 1, with the others trailing DISTANTLY behind. But yeah, that doesn't mean I'm not afraid that McGill wouldn't just suddenly call me up and be like yeah, it was all a mistake. goodbye.

So, you mean that I can't buy a phone in Toronto, and then get a plan with Bell in Montreal? All of this is so confusing and I already have a full plate of things to worry about.

Which episode was that?? I remember when she dropped her phone when she bumped into Dan. Did you watch the last ep? Jenny officially sucks, and I hope that last part of the ep means she's returning to normal. Lily is adorable - I can just imagine how awesome a couple she and Rufus must have been.

Haha, you are so going to McGill!! big grin

And I guess you could get a phone here to use in Montreal? I'll have to find out I guess.. I know when my brother was going to western he was in london to change his # and stuff, but then again he did a complete switchover from rogers to bell. Whatevs, it's going to be a whileeeeeeeee away. Let's not worry =)

GG episode was one of the early early ones. I haven't been watching for a while though, haha.

OK. I honestly cANNNNOOTT wait. Do you feel really disconnected from school? I know I do. It's like I'm ssooo tired of caring about events and classes. I just want a change of scenary.

I like how all my teachers are like "MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR THE EXAM WELL AHEAD OF TIMME. THERE'S SO MUCH INFORMATION!!!!!" Ummm, no. Honestly, I hate how they make all this info we have to know so big and hard, and "study or else you fail!!!" and people fall for it and waste their time. I think it's more importaant to study the stuff that you know will be on the test. I must have skipepd about 30 pages of assigned reading for the exam, because there would be noo way it would end up on it. OK, that was my mini Politics exam rant.

Anyway, I keep going back and forth between what courses I want to take. I was kind blah about the MicroEcon class, but it's requried for IDS, and I want to keep my options open. I still don't know which language to take, though. There are so many people on the McGill Facebook group who are like "I'm taking five or more langaugesss next year!!" I wish I could be more like them.

by the way, are you totally blown away by how much people are looking forward to taking classes and learning stuff. I mean, for me it's pretty shocking, because I go to the most deadbeat school ever, where the only reason people try to achieve high marks is so they can get into their programs, and everyone generally hates their classes, because we have about three choices in what we take.

Haha oh yeah. Actually, i attended a school event last night (culture fest) and it was pretty fun. And then I had two tests today that i studied a grand amount of 30 minutes for. (I care so much about my academics) I'm sure I passed though and at this point in time that's all that matters. My teachers don't really stress about exams and stuff. Or maybe they do and I just don't pay attention to their nagging. Haha, wow I'm going to die next year.

But I'm sort of stoked on taking these new courses next year! There are a bazillion options big grin
My highschool offers an insanely small number of electives. it'd be a nice change. ... and montreal!
