I've changed schools and all my good old friends stop talking to me. Some have changed and become drug addicts and stuff. I only talk to like 5 from my old school now and they are totally different except one.

They smoke the occasional joint.
Definite drug addicts.

A lot of my close friends haven't changed that much.. Still the same old ppl. The ones I wasn't really close with changed quite a bit IMO, but I wasn't close with them anyway so I wouldn't really know.

i believe that people (your high school friends especially) will change without a doubt and i can't help but believe that it's for the best. if they are good friends then you will keep in touch with them and if not then you won't. it's honestly just that simple. personally i've lost 5 friends within a matter of months and have become closer with 4 other people and i'm happier this way. the other people were just not worth my time and i didn't respect who they were becoming. i guess what i'm trying to say is that the people that matter to you are the ones that you will care enough about to allow them to be part of your life when you are moving forward and the ones who drag you down you will let go of during this time. it probably sounds scary to you but change is good!

Most people change when they go to university... whether you keep the friends you had before going away really depends on the amount of personal growth each of you does and the effort you put into it. I'm still close with a few of my high school friends, and the rest of them I just don't relate to anymore (I never did that well with some of them in the first place, to be totally fair). In my opinion the worst thing you can do is go to a certain school because that's where your friends are going... it's important for people to be able to make new friends and find people they relate to outside of a high school environment, and if you enter university with a complete clique already that's harder to do.

When I went to university I gradually lost most contact with my friends from high school. The big factor is which faculty each of you are in. This is the way at Mac anyway, each faculty has a distinct culture and attitude and that can cause you to grow a part. Also if you're not in classes together and don't pass each other on a regular basis you get tied up with otehr stuff and don't keep in touch. Now its pretty much become a "Hey hows it going?" in passing if I see my friends the odd time. It's okay don't worry though, you make new and better ones big grin

1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more...

I think that if you stay in touch with them and make an effort to go home and hang out every once and a while, they will always be your friends.

There was a really big change from junior high to senior high for my friends (some aren't my friends anymore).

It seems that I'm the only one in the "junior high" group who actually puts an effort into school and my community. I've seen people smoking joints on my school bus, I see my former friends going stoned to class, doing cocaine and stuff, coming to class high on E and other drugs.

I've never done drugs, I don't drink a lot, and I feel that I'm going to make it out of this school in one piece. My high school has a 56% graduation rate.

A lot of people throw their lives away, and its so devastating to see. My friends and I in our Youth Volunteer Corps at school put up posters about the bad things on drugs and they've been ripped down.

The sad thing is that 15 years ago, my school was one of the better schools. They are trying to change this by adding AP and traditional learning, but its slowly getting worse.

I can't wait to leave.

Forget when I end up in university, some of my friends changed halfway into senior year of highschool, many took a turn for the worse.. so yeah I'd bet money on that happening even more once you get to university. Personally, I cannot wait to be in a completely new atmosphere with new people to make new friends [not to say I won't be friends with some of those who are my friends currently, but it's likely that I'll lost contact with alot of them, realistically speaking.]

I'm still in high school but have alot of friends in Uni. I don't talk to them as much during the year, but during breaks and summer vacation we hang out alot and talk. Also if I'm ever in their town they invite me over, but I definitely have good friends. Some have changed and I've noticed coming from a small town that a few friends become odd because of all the freedom and stuff of a big city away from family that they get into crazy things. But in general they are just more open.

So far from what I know Weed (I guess it wouldn't be considered HARD drugs) but I don't talk to/see them anymore so I could care less
