In my opinion, the more the better. I would say that you should do as many as you have time for. Scholarships are great ways to earn money for school without having to work a lot of sacrifice your grades and sometimes there are ones that go unclaimed because no one applies for them. Just keep applying and hope that you'll be chosen some time. I haven't gotten any yet, but I know that I'll keep filling them out and eventually some will come my way. Good luck!

I wonder if there are still many scholarships left to apply? Because I know many of them were for example, due at the end of last year. I really regret not using my spring break to write essays and stuff for scholarships. I hope there are still more to come, and I wish not all of them would require essays. It's such a big fuss to have to write so many.

I've applied for entrance scholorships to U of A and about 5 scholarships that are open to all of canada such as wendy's, burger king, etc.
but I applied to about 25 local scholarships (worth about $500 each) through my school

I've applied for two scholarships, but I have about 5 applications that are half done. I just have to get going on them.

I've applied to the Millenium, TD Canada Trust, Coast Capital Savings, and the Loran. They are super time consuming and I've only received a rejection letter from TD

im doing the ones most suiting for me, you have to look at how many kids they plan on giving money too and how much you suit the criteria for winning, dont waste your time on a 4 page essay that you have no idea what your doing

... Off the top of my head, TD Canada Trust and Wendy's (for Community Involvement, etc)
I've got a few more on the go right now though. I've been offered admission to the BSc
program at Lakehead and, apparently, they're great for undergrad scholarships. smile

Lakehead is really good for entrance scholarships. If I decided to go there I would have been given $10,000 providing my averaged remained above a certain mark over the four years. But the $10,000 would not have offset the actual cost of travel and having to live up there.

I haven't really found any scholarships to which I am really eligible for. You have to be really outstanding, and well, I'm just an average student.

A lot of the schools I applied to they hardly have any entrance scholarships/bursaries that I qualify for, and some of the schools hardly have any scholarships in general.

I'll do Brock as an example. They have a lot of scholarships/bursaries that I could apply to. I probably applied to like 15! Filling out that form over and over again. It took like 4 Hours! Anyways, I was rejected for all of them but one, and was offered $1000.00 non renewable scholarship. I am good academically with a 90 + average, and academics were what the scholarships were looking for, and I only got that one. Mind you I understand being rejected from the bursaries, I'm not that financially bad off, as soon as they saw my parents income, they probably rejected me (It's not big enough to really brag about, but it's big enough that there are definitely people below me) But they really don't consider how much parents are willing to give, and that is what is important.

This year I have applied to 8. I got one semi-finalist notification so far, 3 have already announced the winners. They are a lot of work so make make sure your still keeping up in school. Its hard to win unless raised thousands of dollars for a charity you started or both you parents died in a tragic way - something rediculous. But keep trying! The more you apply the more chances you have of winning.

It's really sad to know, that the only way you are going to get money around this place, is if your parents died in a horrible way. pfft. Don't get any ideas kids lol.

Anyways, so in regards to my other post, I qualified for a busary from Brock for 1250.00 which is pretty sweet, except for the fact that I DONT WANT TO GO THERE!!!! bom lol. It'd be awesome if I'd get a letter from the Universities I have narrowed it down to. but no!!!

Even still, this money Brock is offering me, does not even put a dent into how much it would cost to go to school there for 4-5 years. I figure, if i was there for 5 years, I stayed on residence and got a meal plan, and it cost me about $15,000.00 each year, it would cost me $75,000, In comparison, if I was to stay here and take the bus to school, it would cost, for four years (The length of the program) spending about $8000.00 max, each year, it would cost altogether $32,000.00.

I wish I did that, but back in the day, I was stupid and thought you could only receive scholarships if you were actually attending a college/university the following year. lol. Oh Well.
