I was such a slacker at the beginning of high school, but then I cleaned up my act

Grade 9: 61% average (50% English, 66% Math, 70% Science, 70% Physical Education, 59% Geography, 50% Art, 56% Religion, 70% French) -- I was skipped a lot of classes, but I'm glad I didn't fail anything.

Grade 10: 85% average (75% French, 80% Science, 85% Math, 68% History, 66% English, 89% Biology 11, 98% Careers, 64% Civics, 61% Religion) -- at this point, I was literally thinking of dropping out of high school, then I had therapy..so I didn't

Grade 11: 90% average (85% French 11, 94% Physics 11, 93% Chemistry 11, 86% Math 11, 88% English 11, 98% Accounting 11, 96% French 12, 79% Religion) -- This is the year when I thought of becoming a plastic surgeon

Grade 12: 91% average in first term (98% Advance Functions, 91% Biology 12, 90% Chemistry 12, 84% Religion) and 96% average this midterm (95% Physics 12, 98% Calculus, 100% Accounting 12, 93% Data Management)


I took English 12 (90%) in summer school. I took Law 11 (93%) by correspondence in grade 11. I'm taking Polish 12 right now in night school and so far I have 98% in this class.

Top 6 (with 2nd sem midterms): 90
Top 6 final: ~88

if only i could keep it as a 90, i'd get more scholarships..

I do my homework whenever assigned
I ask for help whenever needed
I write my notes in different coloured pens so I can remember and understand the lessons
I study for tests - not just looking at the notes but actually redoing my homework

There isn't really a trick into doing well in a class..it's all about understanding and practicing...eg. if you're a tennis player, you need to understand the rules, regulation, game play, etc. and you need to practice in order to succeed...

Even if you have the "hardest" teacher..you can still do well in that class as long as you're self-motivated to learn...and stop procrastinating and being pessimistic.

But if you have a crappy teacher, it's best to have a petition and give that petition to the principal so s/he can judge whether the teacher should be replaced or not -- this actually happened to my school, 2 teachers were replaced because they sucked at teaching and marking

Grade 10: 96%
Grade 11: 97% (currently) but if you are only looking at my top 6 then it's 98%

Grade 11: 92%
2nd highest in the school.

98s aren't common around here.

87.15%...I wish I didn't slack off in Grade 12, but I'm an idiot.

Study more? I would wager that most university-bound students have enough raw intelligence to get 90+ in every high school course if they worked hard enough. Most of those 90s students just work very hard. Personally I don't think it's worth it but to each his own.
