This seems confusing at first but the chance of getting an extra $100. seems like motivation enough for me. University is expensive and that would help buy a couple of used books - maybe !!

Well, every little bit counts I guess. $100 you get now is $100 you would've had to come up with some other way later.

My computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

no kidding! and this is sure easier than working an extra 10 hours for another $100.
Has anyone here won anything yet?

So does anyone know if this is the first year this is being done? It would be interesting to see how some people came out with the $100.

Yes, this is the first year... or, at the very least, it wasn't done last year.

4th Year Computer Science student at Queen's University finishing in April, 2008;
starting a Masters in Human Computer Interaction shortly afterward (also at Queen's).

That is true, there aren't that much scholarships that I'm able to do.

Hey, same here! It's difficult to find scholorships that I am eligible for. So far I have not applied to alot and I was so thankful for this contest.
Although, I must say, Studentawards.com is helpful in finding scholorshipssmile

exactly. Studentawards has matched me with 4 awards and I have personally e-mailed Cosmo and asked about the dates b/c it says 2007 is when it ends so I wanted to know if it was running still. That way 2 months ago and I have recieved NO responces

Definitely this site is helpful finding scholarships. I find it hard since I haven't done much community service, I've been to busy with extracurriculars, but most places seem to want extracurriculars AND community service. I love how it sends notifications of ones when the deadline is coming up too.

Without this site for scholarships, I would have to work 3 jobs since I work 2 to pay for school in the summer.

I'm pretty sure that as long as you've posted at least 5 times, you will be entered in the draw and they will select the five winners of $100 randomly. smile

I always look at other scholarships and see the previous applicants and their reasons for winning, and then never apply for them because it seems that the winners are all superheros when it comes to extracurriculars/volunteer work/academics/etc haha so I feel I can never match up. I'm glad there are other people looking out for those who are about average; I think this contest is great.

There are so many scholarships for leadership. I don't find that most places want both extracurriculars and community service. Has anybody heard back from the scholarships they've applied to?
