Hey Everyone!

I am almost finished College (6 more weeks YIPPI!), and with some hard work I can pay off all of my student loans in 2 months (thanks to Student Awards. Com I barely have any loans)..... anyways.... I am wanting to do a lot of travelling and I was wondering about some great place to check out/ avoid/ tips/ most economically friendly locations, etc.

If you could share some thoughts and ideas that would be GREAT!

Hit up Europe and stay at hostels. You can see a ton of stuff in a short period of time and traveling across Europe can be done relatively cheap.

Asia is very cheap, but bring your own tp and some non-parishable food. It will save you when you aren't feeling up to trying new food. I was in China and it was great to see the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors.

Whatever you do, don't go to tourist/vacationer traps like ^.

Lonely Planet Thorntree forum and http://www.passplanet.com/welc/index.htm are good places to start.

I personally just came back from a trip to eqypt and i had so much fun.....

everything there is cheap and you have to bargain because it is rude if you dont....

I loved it and you can do so much in a short amount of time... you just have to plan it all out...

If you want to just stay in Canada to save airfare, I would say that Banff is a must visit. It is an absolutely gorgeous place especially if you like nature. You can do activities like gondola, hiking, horseback riding, snowboarding, and skiing. I've never been to a place where I had so much fun--and I travel A LOT!

You might also want to consider travelling and volunteering/working at the same time. There are a lot of those around so if you check around, I'm sure you'll find one.

Hope you have tons of fun on your trip! You definitely deserve it if you're going to finish your degree soon. smile

Waiting on the world to change. ♥

Personally, I have done Europe, South East Asia, and South America. I definitely recommend South East Asia for first time travellers. For one, it's VERY cheap. It's beats Europe hands down for prices. Problem is, it's "scary"... DO NOT WORRY. There are a lot of other travellers like yourself looking for someone to be with. Also, it's beautiful -- Absolutely stunning in culture and geography. Vietnam surprised me the most.... what a gorgeous country. India challenged me the most... Thailand was a party. Laos was so simple and amazing. Cambodia was really difficult for me (so much sadness there still)
South America is great too. It's a bit more expensive, but definitely some great things to do. Bolivia for one, is this beautiful amazing country that noone thinks to go to... I did a 3 week volunteer project at Inti Warra Yassi where you take care of sick and injured animals. The cost is $100 and then maybe $30 more for food. You get to take care of monkey's, snakes, jaguars, ocelots, and much more! There was a puma there with arthritis that i actually got to pet. You'll never get to do that anywhere else. Plus, you're right in the jungle while doing this, meeting other volunteers from around the world. The drive just to get there is incredible.
-- You're very lucky to have this opportunity to travel. If you have more questions, i'm full of travel info!

Europe is the best way to go, so diverse!! Honestly, if you plan it out right, it doesn't have to cost much...
1. stay in hostels, so cheap!!
2. for travel, take the train which is cheap, or check out this airline called RyanAir, credible, safe, and dirt cheap!!
3. don't eat out all the time, you can go to the grocery stores and buy stuff!!
4. plan out ahead of time what you want to see, and be aware of the costs...even some of the churches have an entrance fee! So don't go somewhere unless you ABSOLUTELY want to see it.

these are some tips to get you started, but there's soo much else you can do!! I'm planning a Europe trip myself. Just be froogal but not cheap, you don't want to miss out on some really sick stuff!!
Good luck!

I am travelling Europe right now, and am living in the Netherlands currently. Amsterdam is pretty cool, really different from anywhere. Belgium has delicious chocolate, but the place I love the most so far is Madrid. The people are so open, the shopping is a dream, the food is irressisstable. The architecture is breathtaking and the history is really interesting. Madrid in general is just really fun. I loved it there, so you should definitely check it out.

use last minute travel sites, especially i you dont have anywhere specific in mind
for example, if you just want to go somewhere HOT! lol like i do (soo tired of winter)
sites like www.selloffvacations.com or www.redtag.ca will really save you $$$
