So guys, which university do you think has the best food?

I'll go with Waterloo, because it's the only cafe I've looked at.

So your criteria for saying it's "best" is entirely based on the fact that it's the only one you've got experience with?

Not even "I ate there once and it seemed pretty good, admittedly it's the only place I've been"?

---

For some sort of credible start to such a discussion, the Globe & Mail's university report card puts Guelph at A- for food services. Western gets a B-. While a few others have a C+ or C, an awful lot of schools have D's.

I believe I looked into it once and Guelph and Western were possibly the only schools that didn't contract out their food services to a company like Sodexho, Chartwells, etc.

I'm just looking for opinions. Hopefully, the uni I choose to attend will have good cafe food.

Also, consider pricing. That pasta I ate at UW was expensive as hell.

I've consistently heard Guelph with a number of different reasons for why. I would say definitely not York Glendon, Wilfrid Laurier or Waterloo (the only others besides Queen's I've been to). Queen's isn't bad, people tend to get tired of the cafeteria stuff; but, catered-service wise and the non-Sodexho food on campus I've always found to be good. There's a beaver truck parked on campus which is very good and surprisingly varied in its menu (e.g. they have portobello mushroom burgers, lots of salads, etc. in addition to the things you'd expect from a chip truck).

I think UofT has good food, especially at New College and Vic College. They're both all you can eat, and have some good stuff.

I loved Guelph's food too and especially like the fact that it is not all you can eat.

Don't want to end up the "Pillsbury Dough Boy" at the end of my four years at Queens. lol

I do think that Guelph has the best food. I ate there during the open house.

I've been to Guelph several times and I would definitely say that they have the best food in comparison to several surrounding universities that I've been too.

LMAO I love how this forum changes swear words big grin

Nope you're good don't worry. Brock takes the cake (a mouldy nasty one razz) in the worst food department. It is widely known as the worst.

lol haha i hadn't noticed that at the start, but i was sorta surprised (maybe a little impressed and weirded also haha) that the people on this forum used words like 'phooey' and 'shucks' then realized that it bleeped my posts so those were most likely the default censors for those respective words. lol

It's relatively cheap, like $6.95 on the flex dollar account. I think if your a resident at the respective colleges, it's cheaper. I think that's good compared to when I've been at Ryerson and a meal costs about $6.85 and they shortchange the food where they can.
And FYI all the dining halls at UofT are all you can eat save for onethumleft .

Surely you jest. I feel that food is a crucial factor in a person's university choice. I'm not much of a picky-eater, so I guess I'm fine with Waterloo's food; but I would not go to a school that A) Serves the same meal too repetitively B) Serves food that I can't stand. Food is something one should savour and I feel that having good food should definitely add points to the university you're choosing.

You have to eat it for all of 8 months. Big deal. Plus, every universities food is passable it just gets boring after awhile. Laurier is supposedly bad, yet there are easily over 20 options, not including the cafe which itself has like 15 different options every day.

Yea.. 8 months each year for 4 more years! This is why it is truly a big deal.

But I digress, I want a meal plan pretty badly. The convenience is so alluring.
