Does anyone know much about Trinity College at UT??? Apparently, it's supposed to be one of the toughest to get into in UT..but how is it so different from the other colleges if ..you are still taking the same classes as other college members? And is Trinity Residence better or St. Hilda's?

One of my friends is at Trinity this year. I don't know that much but here is what I do know. You can only apply if you have an average greater than 90%, meaning they will only consider you if you have at least a 90%. Apparently they where robes to dinner...like those graduation robes. It's serious business, that college. Its location on campus is pretty good too. It's close by to most departments. It certainly a prestigious college. Apparently, several famous people were residence of that college. It wasn't my personal choice, instead i went for New College. Hope that helps you know some stuff you didn't before.

They wear gowns to dinner and you don't need a 90 to apply. 90 is usually what the median average of incoming students is.

sry, i forgot to mention somethings you had asked. YES u are taking courses other students are in other colleges. The colleges don't limit u to certain courses. You can take whichever courses u like. The differences between colleges is there activities and events, food plans, rooms(single/doubles), kitchens, that kind of stuff. Trinity being one of the oldest residences has many traditions, certain events and such. The students at trinity are all intelligent and school oriented so you are less likely to get distracted and more l likely to be focused like those around you at the college, in my opinion. Hope that helps!

Hey, I'm in second year at UTSG. Not in Trinity College, but I have a lot of friends who are.

Trinity is known to be more "prestigious" than the other colleges, with their traditions and numerous balls/formals over the year. They also have the reputation to be very snobby, but whatever, I think it's good to be proud of your own college. They have very good student run newspapers, don't have much information on the rest, but if you like traditional things, you should apply to Trinity. I usually get the feeling that most Trinity students came from private high schools. They definitely seem (key word, seem) to spend more, just judging the number of ~classy~ events they have.

Really, I applied to Woodsworth because they had full kitchens. I've heard some horror stories about New College. A friend of a friend goes there and he says its just a really depressing place, I believe his exact words were: "feels like you're in a concentration camp".

Good choice! I lived in Woodsworth first year, loved every bit of it. Except for the times when the elevators didn't work. But other than that, I think it's great.
