am i the only one who doesn't find that appealing? I'm most likely going to accept waterloo but i don't see why having a uni where people are constantly going to be hung over/throwing up is such a great thing. I mean i'm all up for parties and dancing and maybe going to a few clubs with a few friends (never go alone if you're a petite female. The way some guys dance it's like trying to have sex with you through your clothes. Graphic, yes. but it's really uncomfortable and i hate it) but i'd like to be able to go somewhere that i'll be able to find a group of people to have fun with without someone being piss drunk out of their mind. I'd drink in moderation and i don't think i'd enjoy those sorts of parties where people end up like animals at the end. but maybe that's just me

There will be drinking at every university, UW included.

yeah i realize that but this thread seems to be a contest of which school has the biggest rep for overdrinking and getting wasted. I really don't see why that's a good thing

Drinking and partying is fun. I would imagine your attitude towards drinking will change once you're in university.

Are you one of those girls who go to the club just to dance with their girlfriends or do you actually dance with guys, just not the ones as you mentioned who are 2 layers of clothing away from intercourse? Just curious, because I find the first set to be annoying, uptight and thinking they are better than everyone (just in my opinion).

i'd go mostly to dance with my girlfriends, but if the guy is decent looking and isn't just looking to have dry sex then i probably wouldn't turn them down. Though i don't see what's wrong with girls who just want to dance with their friends...it doesn't mean that they've got this huge ego of seeing themselves as above everyone else, maybe they're just uncomfortable dancing with people they don't know?

It's difficult for guys to understand why girls would get all dressed up and then spend the money to go to a club just to dance with their friends. It doesn't make sense from a male perspective.

ah i see. well the way it happens is usually one or two girls in the group want to go find some guys to dance with, and then they convince 3 or 4 of their other friends to go with them. The other 3 girls may have no interest in finding a guy to dance with but go nonetheless. Why the makeup? To look good (and the billion facebook photos you take of your hot group of friends going to the club you don't want to be the only one not looking fantastic).

Have you ever tried asking those girls to dance lol? Most girls would dance with a guy if asked, unless he's really creepy, or at least I would. If no one asks me, then I dance with my friends. Being clean helps for not coming off as creepy lol.

agreed. just having some guy randomly walk in and start grinding with you usually doesn't go well with a lot of girls. if that same guy said, 'hey, would you like to dance?' that would most likely put it in their favour. you'd be surprised how many people would just randomly come up to you and start dancing with you (complete strangers no less. it'd be different if it was someone you knew).

oh and age difference really does matter. no 19 year old wants to dance with some creepy 38 year old who just comes up to them. there usually aren't very many but if there are they really shouldn't expect to be too popular with the (at least half sober) girls

i hate it when some random guy comes up behind you and grabs your hips and tries to press up against you in some strange form of dancing/mating behavoir. Not pleasant.

I'm not a creeper, so yes I do ask the girl if she would like to dance. I don't know how it is out in other cities, but in T.O some of the girls are straight (female dogs) and will just stare at you with a look of "Are you serious?" I'm not cocky, but I think I'm pretty decent and proper looking, so my views are based solely on the experiences I've had in Toronto. Most girls are nice and just having a good time at the club and would dance with you, but those other girls just annoy me sooooo much, I asked for a dance, not to go in the bathroom for some action, RELAX!! And the part that kills me is half of the girls that act so snobbish are the ugly ones who cake on the makeup to look half decent in the lowlight.

Ha ha, ya that would be annoying.I know what kind of girls your talking about, the stand-offish ones that try to intimidate me. I want to tell them you can keep on adding make-up but it aint gonna get any better. Awwww but I should go easy on them they proably have low self-esteem.

actually i'd imagine this'd be one of the ways girls like that boost their egos.

you know, get dressed up and made up all nice, dance suggestively to see how many guys come to ask you, then basically keep a tally with your friends to see how many guys you turn down. go home, feel better about the fact that you're ugly as there is someone you've turned down.

cynical perhaps but i wouldn't put it past a whole lot of girls i know.

Well if that's how they want to have fun that night, good on them. I'll just move on and find another girl to dance with. But IMO that's a waste of time, money and all that, definitely something I personally wouldn't consider fun.

i agree. however, university is incredibly diverse and you can find pretty much any social group you like. Even though the media accentuates the partying aspect (and yes, it is pretty huge) - there will always be people who don't find that kind of thing fun, so don't worry that you won't fit in becuase there's a group for everyone smile
