OK so i live in ontario and am planning on going either to McGill, U of T or York University. I am in grade 12 and so far my marks are really good and i have an average of 90+%. But my gr. 11 marks were poor. Overall my year average was 80% and i got a 64% in math and 69% in physics. My math mark this year however is at a 92%. so i was jsut wondering if my poor gr. 11 marks will affect my acceptance into these universities. Should i be fine as long as i keep my grade 12 marks high? Oh and i am applying to economics. Thank you smile

Yes, you will not be accepted to anywhere except maybe Brock.

Or you can do some incredibly basic research and find out on your own...

UofT bases ALL of it's scholarships and most of its admissions on your first semester grade 12 marks + your final grade 11 marks in the 'outstanding subjects'.
Ex, If first semester grade 12 you don't have grade 12 physics, they will look at your grade 11 physics mark up until may(when all of the scholarships are gone and most of the spots on the competitive programs).
You WILL eventually get accepted in late may (for the competitive programs provided your average is maintained), but early admissions are going to be hard to pull off.

ok first of all, i have absolutely no idea wtf the previous posters are talking about...basically the only thing that is affected by grade 11 marks is "early admission". If you want early admission to any of these schools, then you should have extremely solid grade 11 marks (high 80's-90's). Now if your not too worried about early acceptance and are looking to just get accepted, then the main focus is on your grade 12 marks. Rarely will universities go back to look at your grade 11 marks unless its for scholarships or early acceptance as I mentioned earlier. Hence why the majority of universities state top 6 u/m grade 12 courses as their requirements for calculating your admission average. I know this for a fact because I know atleast ten people who had grade 11 averages in the 60's, but really improved their marks in grade 12 and got into some stellar programs including queens commerce, university of toronto, concordia comp.sci, etc...anyway dont worry you'll be good
