I'm graduating this year and I'm finding that it's been non-stop busy. Scholarships, graduation requirements, looking at all the different schools, keeping marks up, and all of those other things! Does anyone have any advice for slowing stress?

I'm in the same boat, I have all the same feelings and 'burdens'. I dont really have any advice for you, but I know that being so busy, keeps me from thinking of how stressed I really should be. This year has flown by and I look back and see all the things that I've been able to do, without really realizing at the time how much I had taken on. I also do a variety of things, from school, looking for schools, and sports. The variety gives me a change in senery and lets my focus linger on different things. Every now and then you need a break as well, don't dwell on things for too long, as they probably aren't worth it in the end. Best of luck with everything.

I'm feeling that same way as you Alexarea. I'm feeling the pressure of trying to keep my marks up, wondering where the tuition money is going to come from, moving away.. and everything else that comes with the end of high school and the beginning of university!

What was awesome for me, was the fact that I stayed back an extra year, so in Grade 12 I could focus on my courses and getting good grades (Even though that took up enough stress all in itself) and then when I went back for the extra semester, I would have time to devote to exploring universities and such.

totally feeling you right know , only thing i can tell you is to have a night or day to your self just to fool around and be stupid. it works for me, usually i go to Glen eden on fridays and just dick around, i figure if the only way for me to release a little and be sane during the week is for me to risk injury then so be it.
i had to stop riding to keep my marks up and so when i actually do have fun i think i'm a little more reckless than i used to be.

I was really stressed a little while ago. I generally hit the gym when that happens, or just have a you day. Honestly, just doing -nothing- helps. Lay down on your bed for an hour and nap. You'll find that it covers a few hours>< But that is the point, you will wake up refreshed and the homework will be easy which then means better grades which means scholarships and.. you get the idea It will all work out. -If worse comes to worse, stare at the clown.- Chatting with friends always helps. =)

it is very stressful. it helps to listen to music, take breaks every once in a while, and take a bath.

The best thing to do is live in the moment, enjoy what's happening now instead of worrying about what's coming up. Plan ahead but don't let it consume you and look at the bright side of things.

in my opinion the worst thing for stess is procrastination. do assignments as soon as possible and do work before play as much as you can handle

When faced with so much stress, what do people find helps them cool down and take a nice break on weekends, or other spare time? Personally I like to sit back and just read a good book. It lets you zone out from "the real world" and stresses from school or work. When a book doesn't cut it, I also like to watch a good comedy movie!
What do you do to relax when you have that spare time during the stressful grade 12 year?

What I did in grade 12 was just make sure I hung around with my friends in my spare time, because whether you want to believe it or not - you won't see or hear from your friends that often once you leave high school. Make some memories!

I can honestly say that during my last 2 or 3 weeks of highschool I was a nervous wreck. My life was hanging in the decision of a few peices of paper I had handed in over months of work. I moved out of my parents house at 15 and I thought that was tough until I had to sit down at the exams that would determine if I was going to be a psychologist or not. TALK ABOUT STRESS!!

yeah stress can definitely get to you with the pressure of graduation. Try to find an outlet. For me, it's yoga. I absolutely love yoga and it makes me feel so much better and less stressed after

I've actually had a really hard time coping with the stress of first semester Grade 12....when the second semester rolled around, I dropped a course that I didn't need and suddenly a big burden has been lifted! I've also taken time for myself...whether that be chatting with my friends on MSN or facebook, or taking an hour for myself at the gym. Maybe it's watching a movie at lunch (I'm homeschooled), or taking an hour to watch a corny soap opera. Sometimes I'll indulge in a bath with triple-berry epsom salts...there's a lot of ways to relieve stress. Mostly its about taking time for yourself and doing things you love

A lot of high school students are stressed to graduate and get a highschool diploma, and also graduate with high marks that will benefit them when they graduate..
