Hi
I am starting distance Education in the Spring i have not done so before and I am a little nervous. I heard that it is more difficult than classrooms is it so? If anyone here did online courses before and how is it?
Thanks

I took distance ed courses..and I'm actually taking two right now as I'm working for my co-op. I wouldn't say it's more difficult than the on campus courses, but I guess it depends on the individual. As long as you do your work according to the schedule, you should be fine. Probably the hard part is keeping up with the course, since it's all up to you when you actually watch/read the lectures. But.. in my second term of first year, I had one distance ed course with 5 on campus ones, and I the distance ed course ended up as my highest mark that term. It will probably depend on the course, and on your work habits.

I started taking distance courses in September. I was nervous too. It's just like regular classrooms, but you do need to be really focused. It will take a while to get use to, but it is a great experience

I had wanted to do distance ed, but for some reason, everyone I knew discourage me from doing so and looked down on it,
so I gave in to peer pressure and didn't

I did distance ed for my senior years of high school out of Vancouver (GVDES) but when I graduated I found out about SIDES based in Victoria and they have programs that are so much better and they offer AP courses.

It's tough to complete correspondence courses but doable if you are motivated to complete it. If not then don't even try.

As far as university goes, I did one course through Athabasca University (Alberta) and I have to say that they have great up to date programs with very helpful prof's. I how ever have done so much correspondence in my life that I can't handle it any more and am going back to real school.

This fall I'm moving from Vancouver to Romania and I'm hoping to do some SFU courses online while I'm there. I won't be working, so how many courses would you suggest I take? I'm highly motivated, but I don't know whether you're supposed to take a full course load or if it's better to take just a couple courses. Any ideas?
