A third world war would eradicate the world as we know it.
Mutually assured destruction.
As Albert Einstein once said

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

If an apocalyptic situation were to occur, first thing to do would be grab the libraries. Libraries hold so much information on pretty much everything, so if world communications went down, or life became choas, securring a library would be a top priority. Also, someone has to make sure that the information is save and the books are burned or destoryed.

lol. Good luck convincing the military and government of that one. *the libraries I mean*

I think you're def. right about it, but can you imagine? Some huge SWAT team stormin through trying to save as many libraries as possible before we all get blown into oblivion?

You'll get all of the soccer moms torchin the libraries just so the SWAT teams will be forced to help them instead. lol. They'll have signs that say "If we all die, NO ONE'S GONNA CARE WHAT THE STUPID BOOKS SAY!" and "NO ONE WILL BE HERE TO READ THEM" lol.

I personally think WW3 won't happen atleast not anytime soon. Only because the world powers are not equal as they were in WW1 and WW2. Now it is all about technology so one or two nations not mentioning names are way too powerful from the rest of the world. No other country will dare to start a war they can't win or even compete in.

i really wish the world wud come to peace.. i mean dont u notice why millions of ppl are dying??? its all just bc of stupid tings.. ( i dont mean to be rude to any americans.. but geoge bush is very nosy- this of course causes other nations to take action)
i hope our generation performs better and nos right from wrong.
WW1 started bc some dumb guy kills a king and then bc of those two..at the end approximately 60 000 ppl die
now theres like at least 30 -50 or more iraqis dieing everyday
no one cares and no cares to solve it either.. ppl now dont care bout actual peace but rather.. revenge and u can see where this is going

what kind of history textbook are you using? Several MILLION people died (just soldiers alone...not even counting civilian casualties). You were talking about the death toll of WWI right?

Wikipedia pegs the number of Canadian soliders who died in WWI at 64,944. That's probably the 60,000 you are thinking of.

The overall number of military deaths was over 9 million, with over 19 million including civilian casualties, and that's before you start doing things like including the deaths from the Spanish Flu, the spread of which has a lot to do with the soldiers returning home.

Puts the number of Canadian soldiers who have died in Afghanistan (80) into a bit of context to compare to those numbers..

Personally, if we're talking purely deathtoll, I would be more worried about an epidemic than a war. It is much more likely in our current situation anyways. I had to do an ISU for modern history and found out that the Spanish flu which followed WWI killed upwards of 100 million around the world (roughly 5 times the number of the total casulties of WWI). Almost half the people that died were in the same age group, 15-30. That's what I call scary
