Well, we have a topic on movies, books and television, why not a topic on music?

List your favourite musical genres, bands, artists, songs, etc, or recommend music to others!

amy millan, arcade fire, belle and sebastian, broken social scene, damien rice, emily haines and the soft skeleton, feist, gary jules, goldfrapp, gwen stefani, hot hot heat, imogen heap, imperial teen, jason mraz, joseph arthur, joshua radin, kate nash, katie melua, le tigre, matt mays, metric, MIA, modest mouse, moloko, peaches, peter bjorn & john, rilo kiley, roisin murphy, shiny toy guns, sia, stars, sufjan stevens, tegan and sara (they went to my school!), the brunettes, the shins, the weepies, yeah yeah yeahs.

i could go on forever but the above are just some of my favourites smile

Being stringent about what I consider a "favourite," my favourite bands are pretty much all classical rock bands: the Beatles, Brand New, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, and The Who. That is, I have pretty much all their songs, and I know a good deal of their histories. My favourite songs are Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Comfortably Numb (Live from Pulse tour) and Dogs by Pink Floyd, and Achilles' Last Stand by Zeppelin. I know it is cliche, but none of the new stuff interests me. In the school newspaper, they publish a list of current top-selling albums, and I can only recognize like 4 or 5 of the artists from a list of 100.

Heh, I mostly only listen to Korean songs.. but the ones I do listen to that are not k-pop are mostly rock. To name some artists: The Calling, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Muse, .. and I can't remember the names for the rest.

I have roughly the same taste as you! I also like to dabble in a bit of oldies and some recent top 40 music too, but I'd say most of the music I listen to is indie. My top 10 would have to be Death Cab for Cutie, Stars, Oasis, Ben Lee, Barenaked Ladies, The Beatles, The Postal Service, Snow Patrol, Jack Johnson and Bloc Party.

I love music. I'm all over the place depending on my mood I guess. Gospel, Soft rock (NIckelback) Country (Paul Brandt and Carry Underwood) Pop (Celine Dion) Classical stuff, (Josh Groban) R&B, rap (eminem) Sonatas (Moonlight Sonata) Band Music such as The Witch and The Saint. Whatever. I love music as long as it's not too heavy like screamo crap (not to offend those who like it)

I'm pretty easy going when it comes to music. A Little bit of everything. I'm not big on Rap or Country that much. My favorite Singer is by far David Bowie. Saw him in concert a couple years ago. Just Amazing !!! Some other favorite bands/musicians are The Dresden Dolls, Billy Joel, Primus, NIN and Johnny Cash (theres the country sneaking in). I'm a huge karaoke fan too. That kind of counts as music. Depends who's singing though. lol!

we've got similar taste.

i'd also throw in franz ferdinand, Editors (my fave band i highly recommend them), Coldplay, Death Cab, Radiohead (though i haven't heard too many of their songs), Joy Division, and some older but undeniably amazing classics like the Beatles, Bob Dylan, johnny Cash, and some of the Rolling Stones' songs.

Haha Go Sazzle =p I definitely don't listen to a lot of music actually, I pretty much like anything, but I LOVE playing it ^^ I just did my grade 8 piano exam in January, I've been playing violin/fiddle for about five or six years, I picked up a bit on cello and clarinet and I played snare drum in Cadets lol =p But I definitely love live music.. especially Jazz ;) But my favorite genre? probably reggae haha that's a genre right? I just love the rhythm =)

Disney! lol It's so happy and bubbly!

But in all seriousness, I like a bit of everything- yes, even disney. The only thing I'll pretty much say no to is rap. Hate it. smile But most of the music I listen to isn't even English- love my Croatian music! smile
