I'm planning on teaching high school English and History, but would also love to teach PE classes. What sorts of courses would be best suited for this?

Kinesiology is the name of the discipline that many people go into if they want to be gym teachers. I believe some places call it something more like "Human Kinetics".

Kinesiology is the definite choice of study for a physical education teacher. You can also branch off into other related areas a chiropracter or physiotherapist just in case physical education teacher is not what you thought it would be.

Exercise science is anatomy and physiology, which is basically Kinesiology in university. So heading into that seems like a good choice.

There is so much more to exercise science than just anatomy and physiology. You would also study biomechanics, human nutrition, as well as other "arsty courses" such as the history of sport. I know that at UWO, the kinesiology program requires you to also take part in basically gym class, where you are graded on how well you perform at a specific sport.
