I was wonder if any one know about their policies on repeated/upgraded courses. I did find a link that says they balance the 2 marks for only engineering and commerce, and says they use the upgraded for other programs, but I still have this doubt
Repeated and Failed Courses Ontario universities support the full disclosure of all marks achieved in all attempts at a secondary school course.
If you have failed or repeated a course, here's what will happen:
FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCE (ENGINEERING) Engineering will average the original and the repeated mark for each repeated prerequisite course. The resulting average mark will be used in the calculation of the admission average. The English mark is exempt from this process.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (COMMERCE) Business will average the original and the repeated mark for each repeated prerequisite course. The resulting average mark will be used in the calculation of the admission average.
ALL OTHER PROGRAMS These programs will use the highest grade achieved to calculate the admission average.
I'm looking to apply to Life Sciences at Queen's. I had to upgraded my grade 12 math mark (Advanced Functions) in summer school cause I got a 58 due to horrible time managment skills, but I know I can achieve an 80/90.
Basically my question is should I forget about applying to Queen's because of my math mark?

I think you will be fine. I'll be applying too this fall, and I've upgraded my Bio mark (though I'm applying for Commerce, but whatevs).
They'll only average the prerequisites anyway. AND... it says only eng and commerce so if you're applying to Life Science, you should be fine, so I don't see why you shouldn't apply.

If they specifically say it's only Engineering and Commerce where it matters, well, the answer should be obvious.. There are aspects of the process that are confusing or ambiguous (for example, how they weight extracurriculars or how exactly they decide who gets admitted early), but I don't see how they could be any more clear on this particular point.

If Queens says that in writing that is what they do. Besides I was taking 12U Physics at night school with a girl who had about a 63-64 final mark first semester and on her repeat she had an 85 at mid term and Queens just used that 85 mark. She got into Life Sciences at Queens for September 2008.

Thanks a lot guyssss!
I know the answer was right there but because Queen's is such a prestigious school I still had some doubts.
Does any one know the cut-off mark for life sciences?

I don't think they will be posting 09/10 year's cutoff just yet... at least not for a few months.
I'd assume it'd be around the same as it is now... it can't have increased by that much.

Does any one know the cut-off mark for life sciences? Low-mid 80's probably.
