Okay, well, I know most people have decided where they are going already, but I am one of the select few who haven't.
I had my mind made up to go to Carleton and take Journalism and I paid my fees and everything. And then recently, I found out that I was offered money from a local university.
So here are my options:
1) I go to the local university, and I won't have any debt. I'll have to do more school after because there's no way I'll get a job around here. I may not meet as many people because I know tons of people going there, including my 2 best friends, and I can come home whenever so there's still that comfort. My friends already think I am going here and they're all excited, plus my family wants me to go here. If I turn down this money, they'll probably look down on me, even though I'd rather go to Carleton.
2) I go to Carleton, be in debt, maybe be able to avoid doing more school after my first 4 years though. I get to live in a new city and meet new people and there are more job opportunities. I won't be able to come home often though.
So what should I do? Does it really matter where you go for your undergrad? I'm just a bit confused.

I'm not sure how much help I will be but here is my opinion: Go where you want to go. I only say that because that increases your chances of doing well in that particular program, as it will (hopefully) be truly the program you are interested in. However, I will mention that factors such as "taking the easy way out" should not influence were you want to go. If you think you can pay off the extra debt and feel that Carleton is were you want to go, then go for it. Of course I am saying this without much knowledge about each particular program...

I think going away to school is a great experience for most people. I think that's one thing that's good to spend some extra cash on.

It sounds to me like you've already made up your mind. Do what's best for you - and best of luck at Carleton.

You may want to consider the difference in the university experience between a school like carelton and your local university.
For example, if you're going to King's college, Acadia, Mt. Allison, etc you may actually be making the better choice if depending on what is important to you.
