to get the ontario scholar, do you have to have the TOP SIX 80% and above (counting gr. 12 courses completed in gr.11) OR is it 80%+ in each semester of grade 12?? my school website says the second one...but im pretty sure it is wrong..

It's top 6 of any grade 12 courses taken in your high school tenure.

It was an 80 % overall during your four years of high school when I graduated (2006).

"Introduction This memorandum provides direction to school boards and schools concerning the designation of a student as an Ontario Scholar. The revised requirements, outlined in this memorandum, apply in the 2003-04 school year and in subsequent years. Requirements A student may be designated an Ontario Scholar if he or she satisfies both of the following requirements: He or she obtains an aggregate of at least 480 marks in any combination of ministry-approved courses listed below that provide a total of six credits, as defined by Ontario Secondary Schools, Grades 9 to 12: Program and Diploma Requirements, 1999 (OSS) and/or Ontario Schools, Intermediate and Senior Divisions (Grades 7–12/OACs): Program and Diploma Requirements, rev. ed., 1989 (OSIS). He or she has been recommended by the school principal for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in either the current school year or the previous school year. It's not 80% over all 4 years. I want to say my understanding of it when I got it was that it was specifically the courses in my last year, but if that was the case it isn't anymore. The link provided indicates that it's 80% in the top 6 grade 12 credits (although they express it as a total of 480 marks over 6 courses). And if you have any grade 12 courses like Co-Op, O, etc. courses that don't count towards university admissions, those do count towards Ontario Scholar.
