In the beginning of the semester, I was taking too many courses (physics, math, biology, english, history) and wasn't able to handle an extra math course. I made sure, almost a month before the mid term, to make an effort to drop the course before any complications could arise (I reconsidered during the very first month). I was told by my guidance counselor that I could drop the course as long as I spoke to my principal (he authorizes these things as I surmise my school has a problem with students dropping courses). However, that would be at midterm.
So, low and behold, I wait until midterm. I head into the principal's room and relay the fact that I'll be dropping a math course due to course overload. He cautiously looks me in the eye, knowing that I am well prepared and expecting a desirable answer. The comes the rejection. He says that I'm not in a position to graduate and that I may only drop courses in 12th Grade despite the fact that I haven't attended the course in over a month and am most likely failing as a result. I list it as an almost certain impossibility that I will not be able to pass the course. He disregards my statement and asks me to "try". Well, I "tried". And still wasn't able to raise my mark from the enigmatic 18% to the frugal 50% needed to pass the course. What should I do?
I had always assumed that you didn't have to be in 12th Grade to drop a course (I would retake the course via long distance)?
This is confusing because I was told this is a school specific rule. Now I'm pissed because I've wasted my time in the foolish class with the teacher that I despise. I can't stand his lecturing and hate his demeanor. Will this somehow affect my university application next year?

Do you know what frugal means? Or are you just trying to string together words out of the ordinary in hopes of seeming smart?

lols guys looking passed the use of the word frugal... maybe your school just does things differently? i know my school you can drop anycourse within the first two weeks, and then anytime before midterms as long as your parents sign a consent form..
but you need 30 out of a possible 32 credits to graduate... so maybe if you dropped the course you wouldnt have had 30 credits?

Frugal, in my vocab, at least, means "very little" or "cheap"..*shrugs*... Whatever its true definition is. It doesn't matter. I wasn't going for intelligent, just for descriptive. Its just how I write. Sheesh. Just answer the question please? I don't see the need for everyone to flame me for my writing. If you don't like using nice words, then so be it, but criticizing me for doing so and accusing me of wanting attention is going beyond the call of duty. Does anyone else want to start a flame war or should I just continue to feed the fire?

Is this a math course that is a prerequisite to the university program you want to enter? Actually, if it's a grade 11 course, it's probably only a prerequisite to a prerequisite (as in, your grade 12 math is required for uni, and you need to pass this one to get into grade 12). Is that right? If you absolutely need a pass mark, then I would say take the course again through distance/summer studies. Though, I must say, your principal is kinda a jerk.... At our school students drop courses left and right, given that they survive through the massive loads of paper work. Why did your principal say that you "aren't in a position to graduate"?
When I saw frugal in the topic, I was so excited... like, a math course that saves you money?? Oh boy! All vocabulary jokes aside, nobody is flaming you, don't be so sensitive... we're just amused.

I dunno man, but 18% seems a bit sad to me. Just drop it and take it in night school.

I don't think that it's a bad thing for people to point out when you are using words incorrectly. Frugal would indeed be synonymous with "cheap" in the sense of "She's so cheap she'll only go to the movies on Tuesday", and not "Tuesday night movies are cheap" (although "Tuesday night movies are a frugal choice" might work). It doesn't mean "very little" although you could say it means something like "spends very little". But it always has a financial sense to it. As for "enigmatic", there's nothing mysterious about a mark of 18% after not attending most of the classes.

Lmao. I had been out of the country for a year and equivalency problems resulted in me missing about 4 credits (I was away and missed my second second of Grade 10 and first semester of Grade.11). During the second semester of Grade 10, my family was conducting business and I couldn't attend school. I attended school during my first semester of Grade.11 (out of the country) but what I learned didn't really correlate to what I'd been doing all along in the Ontario curriculum. So, when I came back, everything just became so much harder as I tried to catch up. Thats the only reason why I'm doing all the hardest courses in one semester. I assume that may have been the reason why he said I wasn't in a graduating position, but darnit, I could've learned something more and perhaps finished in summer school or something. Or I could've had more time to focus on my other subjects. I was pretty surprised. I'd never not attended so many classes, but even I didn't expect that grade. And again, this isn't grammar class. You got what I intended you to get and I think that should serve to satisfy my needs. I did think it was an "enigma" that I should have 18% simply because the amount of classes I didn't attend wouldn't have given me 18% by the time I reentered the class. The tests he gave us during that period were supposedly worth a larger portion of our mark than I originally expected (I hadn't really read the course outline). And thanks for those that answered the question. Honestly, none of this grammatical correction is helping me to get to any desirable conclusion. If I misused frugal, then fine. But it was never intended to be anything more than how I usually write. It was not intended to make myself seem more intelligent or sophisticated. I just like playing with words. Simple as that. If this is the reception to a simple and honest question, then I just won't ask simple and honest questions.

This was one of the oddest displays of writing I have ever come across. I can't get past the numerous nonsensical and completely unnecessary adjectives, let alone the other vocabularly you started throwing around.
