Classes end 10 minutes before the scheduled time to allow you to get to your next class. 10 minutes is long enough to get to any building in the middle of campus where most classes for first year are going to be.
And from what I understand it's alright if you didn't upload a picture, you'll just get it done at the SAO, the pic upload was just to make things go faster since they'd already have your card made.

I don't know anyone who uploaded a picture, to be honest. But be forewarned - the picture is taken at the end of a long day at SAO (mine was super hot too) and you're stuck with that picture for 4 years, unless you're willing to pay for a retake. My picture is wretched. lmao.

Ten minutes is more than enough time to get to wherever you're going, most people have back to back classes. Even if you're running late, there is no shame in ducking in late once in a while to a lecture (for most classes anyway.)

I just got the 'grey book' today. It's officially called the Western Student handbook and Timetable 2008-09.

So yeah it does pretty well have everything that's already online at like https://studentservices.uwo.ca/secure/Timetables/mastertt/ttindex.cfm

And yeah you can't register for courses quite yet. IF they already say that they're full, and did you check the site a few weeks ago only to find out that the calc course was full? Because I've been on recently and I didn't find any first year courses that were full.

I noticed a few full calc courses too, though I wonder if they might have been set aside for upper-years who didn't take them first year, for whatever reason, and maybe they were able to register earlier. Though I honestly don't know.

I see...
That..would make sense.
My SAO is on June 24. It WOULD be pretty hot.
So, maybe it IS better to go take a pic now and then upload it. (it was just because I didn't have any pictures that were ID material. Most of them are of me doing my V pose/fob pose)

And, wow, I totally did not know that they'd end classes 10 minutes early. I feel somewhat jibbed of my money.

A couple more questions:
Do you know if the uploaded picture has to be a professional ID picture? Or can it just be a nice, direct shot? Or can it be something random?
Do I have to work out my lab and tutorial times?
How many labs/tutorials are needed for BioMedical Science? (probably specialization in physiology and pharmacology).

Wow if the books are here already, it's way faster than I thought it would be. I'm excited!!! (but I doubt I'll get mine until next week since I'm not in Ontario).

Sorry, I feel really dumb here but, where in the world does it tell you about uploading pics?? >__< Can anyone direct link me?

For first year labs ..

Bio: Tutorial + Lab. They take attendance during tutorials (or at least my TA did) but they're not mandatory

Chem: Tutorial + Lab. Tutorials are mandatory because you'll have a quiz. There's like ... a section in the lab manual that has tons of questions for you to do (each week)

Physics: labs every other week (but they're long and boring)

for the sections, you can just pick one. you wont find out your lab schedule (whether you have lab first or tutorial first) till first week of school. and since they start the 2nd week of school it doesnt really effect anything, you'll have enough time to buy the things you need

hope that helps =)

K, visit https://studentservices.uwo.ca/secure/SAO/login.cfm

Log in, and you'll be in the SAO online registration section.

In the top right corner you should see the fourth tab that says "Western ONECard"

Click on that, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click browse.

Find the picture on your hard drive and then click open.

And you're done.

Thanks for the link! Even if I'm not going to SAO, the uploaded picture should be a seperate issue and they will take it without my SAO registration right?

I'm starting to make mock-ups of my time table (just got my grey book today...yay!!), and just to confirm, if say a course has 2 lecture hours and 1 tutorial hour, when I register, I need to sign up for tutorial and lecture separately right? What is the significance and meaning of "class section" (I see it has numbers like 001, 006) is it something I need to take note of when picking classes?

Class sections indicate different class times
ex.
001 classes are Monday and Wednesday 10:30-11:30
002 classes are Tuesday and Thursday 10:30 -11:30
each course has different class sections so thaere are a lot of different scheduling options

ok..so, for physics, no tutorial is needed.

But for bio and chem, do I have to map out two different timeslots each for tutorial and lab? Or are they rotating by every other week?

No, they're every other week. So you pick one time slot, and one week you will have a bio lab there, the next it will be a bio tutorial. Same with chem.

Bio tutorials are not mandatory so you can skip those if you want. However, they may be helpful, depending on who your bio TA is. If you have someone who has difficulty speaking the English language, you're probably better off to skip it and make revision notes instead.

Did you go in and add all your classes this morning? That's when it shows as enrolled. I was able to go on at 9.30 this morning and register for my classes.
