Hey guys,

I'm actually not in Grade 12 yet. XD I'm in Grade 11. But I'm still stressing out about McMaster Health Sci, since it's extraordinarily hard to get into. Nobody in my school got into McMaster Health Sci AT ALL this year. D:

I was wondering ... do any of you who applied have a copy of the supplementary application on you? I don't want the answers or anything, just the questions. I used to be able to access it from the Health Sci site but they closed it down, and I'd really like to be able to look at what the application is so I can prepare a bit over this year.

Thanks so much!

Sure. Keep in mind, they might be different than the ones on next year's application.
These year's were:

1. describe one non-academic aspect of yourself and state how it has influenced your personal growth.
2. tell us whatever you feel we need to know in order to understand you as a "whole" person.
3. if there were one question that should not be asked, what would it be and why?

that's pretty close to how the questions sounded, but i don't have the exact exact wording on me right now

I'm thinking of getting a head start on mine too big grin

Wow.. That question three is odd.

If any health sci's stumble in here: How did you answer that?

my friend's answer to number 3: this question.
He didn't get in. He only had a 96 average.

same answer... my average was lower than his. to future apps: it's definitely how you write it, especially for questions like that, that matter rather than the content. and one other thing: don't be crushed if you do not get in, there are over 3500 applicants and ~200 offers sent out; most people get in on luck alone, imho. just try your best, think about what kind of person you really are, and put at their feet your best characteristics. also brush up your writing skills, make it interesting and pleasant to read, not formal and bragging-ish.

No, lots of people actually end up using that answer. I'm not sure any of them made it. It's a pretty generic answer.

Only was the word I thought was sarcastic. Only a 96 average.. 96 is pretty high.

Ouch, I'm really terrified right now. =p

Thank you for the questions! smile

To any of you that DID get in ... how many extra curriculars, etc. did you have? Do you think that influenced your entrance, or was it based solely on supp. app? And your averages, if you don't mind sharing. smile

(I know, generic questions. I'm too tired to dig through about 12 pages of Mac Discussion on this forum)

got in with an average of 96.5 and my last question (the one that should not be asked) was "what is the day of my death?".
i didn't use any of my extracurriculars on the supp form, cause they didn't ask for it. I didn't even have that many, to be honest.
i think it was based very much of luck and on how well you wrote the supp form.
a friend of mine with a ~93 average and several years of working/volunteering at a hospital (and tutoring, and leading camps, and being involved with athletics, etc) didn't get in. Mind you, he didn't particularly try on his supp form, he forgot about it and handed it in on the last day.
