Just as a random note, the 3M Command adhesive products work really well. They have stuff ranging from hooks to hang your coat on to picture hanging hooks to wire organization hooks to just hanging pictures or posters using little adhesive strips.

Other no name adhesive hooks I've used have tended to fall off.

FAQ's:
1. Will I get in? See: electronicinfo.ca for Ontario schools. If you have a couple percent above the marks there and it's not looking at supplementary, the answer is almost certainly yes.
2. Anything else: Google it before asking.

Definitions:

Frosh = first years
Frosh week = first week of school meant for activities for frosh (definition above) to get to know each other / school

How does Frosh week work:
Show up in the first week of school even though you have no class lol

End Result:
Lots and lots of fun and you'll most likely meet your best friends throughout university during that week

haha, sounds goood alien

missing 1.5 days is nothing in the grand scheme of oweek. My first 2 days was a whirlwind of activities and programming. All I did was go to events, decorate my room, become familiar with maybe 4-5 faces on my floor, learned the names of like a 100 people and forgot maybe 90 of those names, etc....it was fun, but hey, there are 4.5-5.5 more days. Those days are more to get you acquainted with the university. There are lots of oppurtunites to make friends throuhout the year. In res, its not hard at all as long as you are open and friendly.

frosh isn't just for people staying in res right? for those that don't need to go through the moving process and all, what do they do? :S

no frosh is for everyone! well usually people move in a day before frosh week actually starts (so usually labour monday) so if you're a commuter you just don't get to see that stuff

What do you mean by that? My high school had a week of day camp stuff to get the grade nine's to know each other. Does your high school do that too? They didn't have it when I was in grade nine. They introduced it when I went into grade 12.

Yeah my high school had an orientation day. It was actually pretty similar to the U of A orientation days.

How does frosh work? specifically at utsc please smile

hey smile at first i thought last year that all my other friends' frosh weeks at their schools sounded like a lot more fun. but in the end i had an amazing time at mine anyway.
i think we're doing things a bit differently this year but this is how it was like for mine. Everyone's divided into 3 huge groups ... Management/Arts/Science, and then into smaller groups of maybe 20 peole i think it was. and then there were 3 days at school... 1 day we started early, the other 2 days a bit later. there was a TON of cheering every day, which was soooo much fun. and then one day there were games, and there were different seminars & activities and stuff. one of the days was an 'academic day', but it was really more informative than boring. and part of that was a little reception thingy where we got to eat food & mix and mingle with some profs. and then each night if you had paid a bit extra, there were different events- first night was a dance, 2nd was a hypnotist, 3rd was this cultural mosaic/variety show thing.
and then on the last day we went to downtown Toronto for Shinerama (basically, standing on street corners with your group yelling & singing and stuff and trying to get people to donate money to cystic fibrosis), and then a big parade with all 3 uoft campuses. and there was a Stars concert too and a bunch of other things going on... and then that night there was an afterparty at the Liberty Grand (just with UTSC people.) that day was super fun but i was also soooooo tired from that whole week and then that day being outside in Toronto all day. i was proud of myself for going to every single frosh event, though smile

overall it was an awesome experience. i made some great friends during frosh who i'm still friends with now. it was soooo good for meeting people, because everyone was so willing to make new friends.

Anyway, I hope you have fun at UTSC frosh this year. I'll be there again as a Group Leader- see you in the fall!!bom

So from September 4 to 11 is just partying? Is that for all schools, or just some?

There are parties everywhere, just like there is all year. People drink in rez, at houses, at bars, at campus events, etc.

I totally skipped my frosh/orientation thing because it was stupid. They were telling me things I already knew or could easily look up, and I didn't want to spend my last two days of summer with a bunch of weird strangers (I'm in engineering, so in my orientation group were weird engineers). So I ditched out and hung out with my friends/boyfriend and toured campus. I was also under 18 so I couldn't go to any of the sweet parties, but I'm planning on doing so this year at least once or twice.

While all schools follow the same general pattern, the dates are not standardized. And in most cases "Frosh Week" is a misnomer as it's usually more like 3 or 4 days where the bulk of activities take place (to be fair there can be some frosh related activities that go on a little longer). And I don't know where you picked out the dates 4th to 11th. Most of the Frosh activities are over labour day weekend-ish, in most cases, and labour day is the 1st this year. Classes often start the Weds after labour day (the 3rd in this case), and if not then, then by the next Monday I think.

FAQ's:
1. Will I get in? See: electronicinfo.ca for Ontario schools. If you have a couple percent above the marks there and it's not looking at supplementary, the answer is almost certainly yes.
2. Anything else: Google it before asking.

Yes commuters go home every night and then come back in the morning depending on when their group (arts/sciences/management) starts
