We have one week where there is really nothing to do. All the course material has been taught. So week off but its really a week to finish presentations, take home exam and study for other exams YORK; Honors Arts - History Major/German minor? '12

Of COURSE I'm skipping, after coming back from IB spare (as in, no IB classes for the month of May, which for me is 3/4) I can't stand going to class nonstop for the whole day now.
On Friday, my English class had only 14 people show up. I bet the teacher was piiiiiiiissed.

I skipped today! I don't usually skip though. I only have 2 classes so it's really not too bad.

So, out of curiosity - at my high school, they really didn't seem to notice if you missed the odd day (which I did from time to time, both being legitimately sick and not bringing in a note, or taking a mental health day); but from what I heard, miss one class and boy were you in trouble. Is it like that for anyone here?

Is it like that for anyone here? I think it really depends on the teacher; I once had a chem teacher who was a MANIAC... you had to have a note or call in to be even late, and if you don't then you have to write one page (of additional chem hw) per minute you were late. And if you were absent without being excused by your parents... oh there was hell. But I also know teacher who encourage you to skip if you think your time could be spent better elsewhere. =) UWO 2012

you know it WE CAN'T SKIP AT MCGILL THOUGH. Actually, we are doign a lot of isu/summative project presentations now, and my bio teacher implemented this rule that everyday you miss deducts 5 marks from your own presentation or something. Which is fine. roll out of bed at 1pm. go to my last period class, come back home.

Honestly, I never skipped in high school. Like NEVER, except once when we were supposed to go on a field trip and it was canceled and my friends and I left and out and went for Thai food.
I skip university classes left and right though.

I went to my last period bio class because she deducts marks (don't really sure how) if you miss other people's presentations. Of course I ended up being late. But yeah, going to one class, especially last period, is unbelievably annoying and stupid. Not to mention that I was looking for my friend after school, and my Calc teacher (whose class I skipped today) saw me. I'm hoping he doesn't care too much.

I skip when I can... however I've definitely noticed that the more I skip a class, the worse I do in it. So right now I don't skip at all. I used to a lot when I was younger though those were the days
