APS105 - Computer Fundamentals

MIE100 - Dynamics
MAT197 - Calculus B
APS104 - Introduction to Materials and Chemistry
APS112 - Engineering Strategies and Practices II
ECE110 - Electrical Fundamentals

Next year I have:

I was just looking at courses for my next year (third), and I found out I have the potential of failing five of the classes. frown
Sometimes its nice to do something I really like, but it gets bad when I suck at what I like to do. smile

GPHY210* - Geographical Perspectives on Global Change
GPHY242* - Remote Sensing I: Image Interpretation and Measurement
GPHY314* - Climate Change
GPHY338* - Urban Political Geography
GPHY339* - Medical Geography
GPHY342* - Remote Sensing II: Digital Image Processing
GPHY347* - Multivariate and Spatial Statistic
GISC301* - Spatial Analysis
GISC302* - Environmental Modeling

What the hell happened to Calc III? You guys will be SCREWED for ECE221 without CALC III... good luck my friend, that course is hard, somehow I managed to pull of a 75 (raped the exam).

-Linear Algebra is a joke.
-Circuit analysis you really have to do a lot of problems and go for extra help if you get stuck ( I spent a good 5-6 hours on ONE homework question and then my friend explained it to me in like 30 seconds the next day)
-Programming Fundamentals is new but I'm guessing you'll be doing linked lists, binary search trees, hash tables, and such.. if Abdelrahman is teaching you, you'll be fine, he's awesome and makes it so easy
-MAT290 is also new, no idea what it is.. I heard it's a lot of complex number stuff, should be okay
-ECE241 is really fun and not that hard, especially if Rose is teaching

-Signals, you either get it or you don't... so make sure you get it.. actually wait no, I don't think anyone STILL understands why we actually had that course or what anything meant but I think it sets up the math for next year, so just don't question anything you learn and just learn to do the problems
-E&M, I just don't know what to say, there's really nothing you can do... just work and maybe you'll get it but most likely not, you'll need to spend like a good 30 hours a week on this to do well (for me anyways)
-ECE231 was really fun for me and I raped the exam, it's a continuation of circuit analysis so it's not too bad
-ECE243 make sure you go to lectures because they are very important, but it was a very interesting course and go to Moshovos' lectures if you can, he's amazing
-ECE297 you'll probably be doing the server design again, make sure you know how to program properly because it's tough and a lot of work but rewarding if you get it working in the end

Awesome bijanv, thanks very much for all the advice. I'm not too sure what happened with Calc III. I did hear that MAT290 was mostly complex variables and stuff, but perhaps they threw in some of the material from Calc III since they got rid of the course. So, pretty much Electricity and Magnetism is the hardest course of the year? As for the programming course and the design course, it used to be a full year design and programming course I believe, but they broke it up. I got an A- in APS105, so hopefully I do alright.

While I realize it's still a little early, I have looked at the calendar and have an idea on what to take my last two years.

Third Year

- Fields and Waves
- Engineering Biology
- Probability and Random Processes
- Networking I
- CS/HSS Elective

- Systems and Control
- Physiological Control Systems
- CS/HSS Elective
- Free Elective (something as easy as I can get)
- Engineering Economics

Fourth Year

- Design Project
- Bioelectricity
- Computer Architecture
- Radio Systems
- CS/HSS Elective

- Design Project
- Biomedical Imaging
- Introduction to Optics
- Quantum Mechanics
- CS/HSS Elective

Heard about any of these courses? I heard quantum is killer, so I might switch that later. Are you doing the PEY?

yeah I'm doing PEY next year, right now I'm in San Francisco working with a startup RFID company.

Yeah right now none of those courses will mean anything to you so don't worry about it, you'll probably have to move everything around to get accredited anyways (we have a special web app that we use to choose our courses and lay them out to make sure we get accredited). But yes Quantum is really really hard, I think it's pretty much the same as the Quantum in Eng Sci and all of my eng sci friends went through hell and back for that course.

The courses I am looking at should fit the accreditation rules. I followed the guidelines in the course calendar. But yeah, I do realize it's early, but I like to plan ahead.

Some of those are quarter courses, so it's not as bad as it looks. But still... pretty bad from what I hear. I know almost everyone heates BME105.

First yeart @ UWO:

Business 1220 - Introduction to Business
Calculus 1000A - Calculus I
Math 1228B - Methods of Finite Mathematics
Earth Sciences 1089G - Earth, Art and Culture
Visual Arts Studio 1020 - Foundations of Visual Arts
Visual Arts History 1040 - History of Western Art
Anthropology 1026F - Introduction to Biological Anthropology and Archeology

The timetable which I painstakingly laid out for these courses is absolutely perfect, EXCEPT (and this breaks my heart) that the Earth Sci course conflicts with a once a month tutorial for Art 1020. AAAH I was kinda planning just to not go for tutorial (after all, Earth Sci only happens for one semester so I won't miss ALL tutorials), but the registration thing won't approve my schedule. worry

Do you know what sort of stuff you learn in Systems Biology?

Painful. That has way too much bio vibe for my liking.

No way! I'm jealous; looking through the exam I kept wishing I had the time to take some Bio. I looooove it.

PSSSSSSSH Physics; Bio is the pwn.

Actually I've only taken very basic physics and I don't like Chem because this god-awful teacher ruined it for me.... So there. But I love Bio to death thanks to a teacher who looked like Papa Smurf smurfpapa
