It was definitely cheaper for me to live in traditional rez for my first year even with the food plan. I also didn't have to pay for transportation to and from school that way or furniture etc. For my second year I am planning to live in appartment with a friend, but it's still on campus and we don't have to have a food plan. And even that is going to be cheaper then living off campus.
