for first year you're probably looking at the very least $300 if you buy used, up to $600-$800 if you buy new, depending on which textbooks you get (if they changed them from last year)
heads up that most of the textbooks are available online in pdf format.. just print it out.. costs $20!

Some books and stuff you can go without. The Human Factor can be usually borrowed for a weekend from a buddy, make your notes and you're good to go.

My first year, I bought all the books new, and it ran me around 1100. In my first year chem course, there were two books running over 100 each though, so maybe that's why this number seems high.

WHY, I don't understand why people have the need to buy ALL their books brand new (especialy in first year where you will never look at the books again)

Bijanv, dont you know the laws of calculus change every two or three years? That being said i was fortunate enough to get all my first year books for free from a friend, Im hoping to pass on the good karma but i doubt anyone would take them lol. Although I must admit there is something about that new book smell...no joke.

I've purchased many books second hand that could have easily been passed of as brand new for half the price, yet some people I know absolutely refuse to even look at second hand books.

I find it that, most people have extreme trouble looking at the edition of current and past books, finding a person to buy old books from, meeting up with them.... argghh, i even hate typing about it lol... anywayz, i think i will be buying used books this year. But i will try not to spend too much time on it.. becasue time = money ;)
