Well I ranked UW residences as number one but I kind of regret that because the college ones sound even better lol. They seem more tight, it's just I wasn't sure if I'd be the only one that wasn't EXTREMELY religious because they all have chapels and some have special "church days" lol. But I figure that whatever residence that I'm assigned to will be fine as long as it's not the suite type of residence or with more than one dorm mate. After UW residences I ranked St. Jeromes as #2, Renison as #3, St. Pauls as #4 and Conrad Grebel as #5. What about you guys?

I ranked UW residences as #1 because I heard that REV was great, many people but a nice community feel and I've visited that particular residence. V1 also sounds pretty good and I like the fact that if I want a single room that I can get one lol.

I ranked St. Jeromes as #2 because of the meal plan, the location and tight community feel that is portrayed in their booklet.
I ranked Renison as #3 because of the same reasons as above and the fact that they match you with your roommate by actually reading the residence info.
I ranked St Pauls as #4 because I liked the dorm room layout but not much else.
I ranked Conrad Grebel as #5 because I just didn't feel like I belonged there lol.

Wow, I actually thought that I posted this for a sec. Your words mimick my own thinking perfectly. I'm hoping for a single room at V1.

I didn't really get to choose a rez, I choose the LLC so now I'm in Village 1. smile I figured that it'd be a lot better for my grades, rol. I was kinda torn between REV and Village 1; but I kinda want a single room.

I'm hoping for REV or Village 1.. I like the layout of REV better though.

I don't like how small the college residences are so hopefully I get into the UW residences.. I want to meet as many people as possible.

does anyone wish they had ranked college universities as number one? I think I hopefully still have a chance of living in one lol..it's just St. Jeromes and Renison sound a lot better than the UW residences..do you agree or disagree with that statement?

Is it too late to change it to St. Jeromes to #1 rather than #2. REV seems like the party residence but still not like the greatest community feel. Is St. Jeromes is closer to the arts faculty buildings compared to REV. I love the whole meal plan aspect of theme nights and community dinners because I eat dinner with my family every night. Do any current UW St. Jeromes residents have any opinions about that?

Does anyone know if it's too late to change the rankings for the residences? I just don't know if I want REV anymore or V1 because they don't seem as great as the college residences. I should have ranked one of the college university residences as number one and now I regret not doing so. Also, does anyone have information about any residence changes, residence upgrades or what makes the residence different from the other? So far I have heard that the REV building will know longer have the divider in the middle of the room and that St. Pauls is getting major upgrades lol

Why don't you just call them??
I found out that it is the fastest way to find an answer.
Personally, I think you can still change the rez order as long as you contact with the rez office.. (Im not sure!!)
I strongly suggest you to call or email them asap...
btw, im going to st.jeromes.. ^^

and i forgot to add this..
since st.jeromes has small number of spots compared to the other rezs like UW1, they only pick students who ranked them as number one...
I called st.jerome's rez office last week and the lady told me to rank st.jeromes as number one.

I was able to change the university residence rankings and I'm soo happy about that!

I ranked them in the following order:
#1: St Pauls--new cafeteria that looked like a nice restaurant, I ended up liking the dorm room layout, they have meal times lol plus you can have fish in the room which may be nice to have lol
#2: Renison--people decide who shares a room rather than a computer, I've always liked it for some reason
#3: St. Jeromes-I like the theme meals but I just didn't like the sink in the bedroom
#4: UW Residence: I feel as if there isn't as great of a community feel, no meal times, the cafeteria wasn't nice in my opinion
#5: Conrad Grebel: I don't really like it but I don't know why lol

ya all of them seemed pretty good so i think youll be happy wherever you go. Just choose them based on what kind of style you want, like traditional or suite.

I think it might just be weird sharing a residence facility with people that are not in their first year because it means that i won't meet as many people that are my age which is a big deal but in the end i think liking a residence is more important than living in the same residence facility as someone else. lol

Did anyone else apply to st pauls? Personally, I'll be happy with any residence I live in lol

I've got a quick question. The Triple rooms at REV are $3100 for 8 months correct? Is that counting or not counting the price of meal plans? (I have a feeling it doesn't include the meal plan, but I'll be much gratified if anyone would confirm it.)

I was thinking of applying at REV triple room for the first year, and if $3100 does NOT include meal plan, then for my upper years I'll be guaranteed residence, and I'll switch over to UWP, which will then be cheaper (I'll cook my own food), and at the same time it's closer to the engineering department. Will this work? Does anyone have any experience with this?

As far as I know there are no triple rooms in REV next year.

Quote:
Will there be triple rooms this year?

No. The triple rooms were only in place last year as a result of more students choose UW than was anticipated. Since we have a first year residence guarantee, we needed to accommodate for those extra students. We have plans in place to ensure that there is no overcommit this year, thus triples will not be used.

That's from the UW Forums. [ http://strobe.uwaterloo.ca/urp/forum2008/read.php?10,681,681#msg-681 ]

Darn, that's most unfortunate. I thought I had it all planned out. Will the suite style of the UWP residence adversely affect social life as compared to St. Jerome/St. Paul or Village 1 then? What's the differences in lifestyles between them besides cooking meals? Cooking meals won't be too much of a hassle in university life would it?
It'll be great if anyone answers.

I have friends who were in UWP and they said that there wasnt too much social life, although they were stuck on an all guy floor. Cooking wouldnt be too much of a hassle if you like cooking anyway. Plus, UWP is on the opposite side of UW than the other rez buildings, its mostly math, cs, and engineering kids from what I know.

I was in REV and I energetically promote it whenever I can. It was one of the best experiences of my life. There were 48 people on my floor and only 2 of the 24 rooms had roommate problems. I was also in the wing that has no dividers in the centre of the room and I it made it even better, it was amazing how many people we could fit into those rooms for parties. And even though theres no set 'dinner time' we would almost always meet up with a group of people around dinner to eat, and late night expeditions to the V1 caf with a large group around midnight were routine.
