these are my grade 11 marks, the last 4 are what i'm expecting to get in june
92 - english 82 - bio 89 - chem 91 - music #1 88 - functions 94 - world religions 90 - music #2 95 - leadership (half cred) 83 - physics
i really slacked off this year, in grade 9 and 10 i had a 96 average.. that 7% drop is NOT pretty. i've been committed to a bunch of things outside of school for 2 or more years (tutoring, track team, 2 instruments, lifeguarding, 150 service hrs) which i'm hoping is good enough. so say i bump it up to 96 again next year (which i know will be tough), would this year bring me down? i've given up on early acceptance cuz i can live without it, but i REALLY need money for uni.

well, to be honest, apart from automatic university scholarships, you're not getting any money with those grades. How are your ec's? Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

If your EC's are good you're actaully fine. Those grades will do you just fine, but you're going to need to do quite well in grade 12 1st semester. However, if it continured the was it is now, you would be in the running for most major scholarships if your EC's keep up.

Your grades are probably fine, or will be fine by Grade 12 (I'm not mathematical enough to figure out the average right now). For most major scholarships (and university entrance ones), you'll want at least 90%+ (most scholarships won't care about grades once they're in that level--grades aren't the final deciding factor; leadership is). For activities, you doing well, but most look for leadership--participating in extracurriculars won't cut it. That's the major mistake people make in thinking they'll do well with major scholarships. You're doing great so far (150 service hours is amazing!), but you'll need to step it up in the summer/fall in order to place yourself in the winning category for the major scholarships. Don't give up hope! Student loans aren't terrible, as long as you budget well and pay them back before the interest kicks in--so go to the university that has the best program for your goals if you can swing it. Don't forget that you can work on-campus (at the campus bookstore, library, etc.) to earn money, or get a position as a Residence Advisor, and you'll have summers to gather money as well. Anyways, best of luck next year with your scholarships!

also, look for well roundedness. It's terrific if you've got lots of arts and academic stuff down and everything but remember that most applications have spots for athletics and work experience as well, for example. Try to have at least one or two strong leadership positions but at the same time try to have at least one thing for most of the major categories (awards, sports, academics, conferences, arts/music, employment) so they're not really empty.

I won two major scholarships which total over 50 000. My average in grade 11 was 92, grade 12 1st sem 94 (when I applied) As I say, if you bring those up a few percent, you will have a shot, but only with reallly good EC's. (this of course is true even for people wiht 98 avgs.)
