If a person has the ability and intelligence to get 95+ in most subjects, then it is most likely that he/she won't get a 60 in ANY subject in the same grade level. Well, if it's like only 1 assignment that you got 60 in, then you aren't screwed. You have to be consistently getting 60s to get a 60 avg

My teacher marks hard.
And I didn't study.
And I'm kind of stupid.

Im in grade 11 right now, and aiming to apply to the Health Sci program at McMaster! I just have to work on my average right now to pump it from a 90% to mid 90s hopefully! One of the things i was debating about if i should move from a private school to a public school, because they make us work EXTREMELY hard in my school whereas friends in a public school near by have better teachers and lenient markers, those guys try half as hard as i do and still get like high 80s. Anyway any future health sci applicants?

NEM99 is right, Math is a subject where your test marks should always be consistent. From my own experience, Eg. 98 in MHF4U Never below a 97 on a test, 100 on the exam.
On the other hand, Chemistry Eg. 88 (so far) Lowest test mark:71? Highest:high 90s?
At the end of the day, Math is a subject where right/wrong is predominant and where there is no 'teacher influence'. It's either right or wrong. I don't know how your class is marked but for part marks mine goes like this: Q out of 10 Method/Procedure + communication + no 'magic equal signs' + proper declaration + correctness= 10/10 Anything that does not contain the correct answer is automatically marked as half marks if everything else is right.
Anyways, my point is that Math is by far the most fairly marked subject of all time, whereas Sciences are becoming borderline 'English mark scheme' where the teacher's opinion matters.

Oh I definitely understand that you can get 100%s in math. And that your math marks SHOULD be consistent.
Sometimes they are not Ex. Statistics in high school, grade 12... 66% on my probability test, 90%+ on all other tests. There are some reasons: the teacher did not have a great grasp on the material, we did probability first (usually the most difficult), etc.
(PS. I am taking stats right now online... if anyone is really good at statistics and wants to help me with my assignment that would be a god send, it is a 200-level course but if you know stats it would be do-able)
Ex. CALC126 Fail all the math tests (and re-writes), get a 76% on the midterm Fail all the math tests (and some re-writes), get a 77% on the final Got a 70% overall

For english I was getting like 70s in my first 2 assignments, and I was prepared to drop the course when my mark improved overtime, and in the end I got a 95, which isn't too bad for English. I think once a teacher likes you, they'll start marking easier on you so it's still possible to have fairly consistent marks.
