Take it with a grain of salt.

I saw a list like this before which had been compiled using incorrect methods....as I don't think every university actually provides an out-and-out overall weighted average.

For those of you interested, I found this interesting list from Wikipedia.

At my "Summer Academic Orientation" this year, we were told that Western is the currently #1 in average entering grade with 87%.

OMG I love western, it's my dream school! But anyways, at the orientation they were probably talking about the 2010 - 2011 entering average being 87%. These marks are from 2008 - 2009, which is like two years ago.

Agreed. Total and complete WOW @ exceptional schools like Queen's and Western.
I'm not surprised at Queen's high admission average, but I thought the requirements for most of UWO programs are 80% on the dot? I can't believe their entering grade is actually 87% and I can't believe they have the highest entering av this yr! Thumb down Western's viewbook is very misleading, it just says minimum average of 80% (which no one cares about) instead of saying the cut-offs like most other universities in their viewbooks. Seriously, what's the point of "minimum averages", cut offs are more useful.

Those are all painfully low compared to the rest of the world, in general, except the US.

What kind of idiot compares high school averages across school systems of different countries?

80% wouldnt get u into uwo. the sheet that listed my conditional offer and for all other faculties said at least 81%, except for music which was a 75. this was for main campus, not sure about the affiliated colleges though

You'd be surprised. I know plenty of tools that attend Western in the sub-70s.

RMC has ungodly high admission averages...something in the high-80s/low-90s and it's stupidly hard to get into...something like 11% get in.

I didn't know Western was good at all, all the victory lap meathead football players went there from my school.

You're lying. Sub-70s? No one can get in Western with a mark lower than 70. Check your facts before you speak. Only 4.2% of Western's students got in with a mark below 80% in 2008, and Western has only increased its selectivity since then. Absolutely no one had a mark below 70% like you said. I don't know what world you live in, but the RMC is a COLLEGE. Please don't compare THAT to Western.

Overall %

Percent who received an entering average of 95%+ 3.1%
Percent who received an entering average between 90% and 94% 20.4%
Percent who received an entering average between 85% and 89% 39.4%
Percent who received an entering average between 80% and 84% 32.9%
Percent who received an entering average between 75% and 79% 4.0%
Percent who received an entering average between 70% and 74% 0.2%
Percent who received an entering average below 70% 0.0%
Overall average 86.4%

RMC is definitely a university. Just because it has the word "college" in its title, doesn't mean it is a college. My guess is that they still call it a college for historical purposes.

I don't know exactly what the academic admission standards for RMC are like, but I'm pretty sure the entering averages are not nearly as high dmndrake makes them seem. It is definitely a very selective university though, but this is because you need to have a good average and be very fit/athletic - two things that don't often go together.

Okay, my bad. But who cares about the RMC? I know I don't. I have never heard anyone say they want to attend the RMC either, it's not even on OUAC. And the only guy I know that wants to join the military failed gr 11 physics, English, math and family studies. My counselor has never once mentioned that name either so I'm definitely not applying there next year.
