I'm going to WLU for the BBA program and I wanted some advice in picking my class times.

I'm not much of a morning person so I prob will try to avoid having classes at like 8am but I would like to hear some other people's opinions about having morning classes vs night classes. Should I put my more "fun" classes like psychology later on in the day so I have something to look forward to?

I would like to hear from some people who have had later classes (anything past 6 pm) did you find you were really tired for that class?

Anyone going to WLU for BBA already pick their classes yet? what electives did you take?

anyone advice would be much appreciated! smile

Oh, good Lord, I hate morning classes at 8...
But that's because it takes me over an hour to get to school.
For classes that end late, I also dislike them because you're tired by the end of the day (and because I had no bus home for that late in the day).
If you're a morning person and don't mind waking up early, go for the morning classes. That'll leave the rest of your day free for more interesting activities or for work.
Otherwise go for later classes. Preferably in the middle of the day, so you don't end too late either.

I take classes as late as possible. If you're not an early riser now, university will only compound that. I started my day at 2:30PM last semester.

There is only a few courses that you have to take first year, the rest are electives. I suggest you read this http://www.wlu.ca/documents/30186/1stYr_RegGuide_final.pdf , all the courses that you can take are in there as well.

5 classes per semester is the regular course load.

Hey stringer or anyone else that goes to WLU did you take CP102 and or CP104? if yes can you tell me what you thought about either course, and the difficulty level?

what do you think of PP110, PP111 or PP/CS201

and can you suggest some "fun" bird type courses?

sorry about asking soo many questions, I really appreciate all the good advice you have already given me. smile

CP102 is very easy for most people. You'll go through Microsoft Word, Excel, a little HTML, and the basics of how a computer works. I'm probably going to take it next year (3rd year) to get an easy credit.

PP110 and PP111 are both solid classes...if you like philosophy. As for difficulty, there is some minor essay writing and the readings can be very difficult. That said, it's a 100-level course so they don't expect much.

Bird courses...CP102 is super-easy and 100-level geography classes are notoriously easy. Social sciences are also pretty easy and are usually just multiple choice exams.

I hate morning classes
but the thing you may want to take into account is that
if you are taking classes at night, you may not be able to finish some of your projects/assignments on time
because ppl tend to do schoolwork @ night
I mean, it is highly unlikely that you will wake up @ 8 am and do your projects..
and you will sleep all the way to 10 am.. which means you basically do nothing in the morning.. and you have to spend time in classes @ night

so night classes may not be a good choice.

But it's your choice

BTW, morning class in a city like Waterloo doesn't sound cool to me
esp in those cold winter days...frown

Nothing like a 20 minute walk at 8:00AM in -40C weather.

LOL 20 minutes? when would you ever need to walk for 20 minutes to get to class? the campus is pretty small from what i saw. Btw what do you think of global studies? GS101 and GS102? they sound interesting, kinda like world issues in high school but i doubt its as easy. Can you tell me anything about it?

I have soo many questions lol...you can chose which ever ones you want to answer.

If you had to chose between PP110 and PP111 which one would you chose? They both sound interesting but I can't chose.

I'm probably going to choose PP110. It just sounds more interesting to me...concerning the values of people, etc. The funny thing is, there are two history courses I am interested in, HI 120, and HI 114, If I take HI 120, I HAVE to take PP 110 because PP111 is offered during HI 114, the same goes for HI 114 and PP 110.

So basically, I am more interested in taking PP 110, that means I will have to take HI 120.

For me, I made sure I avoided any 8:00 am classes lol.

I've changed my time table around so many times. I am taking Psych Mondays from 6:30 - 9:20. I thought I would take a night class and see what it's like.

Once you set up a time table, I would check the class search thing to see if a prof is assigned to the class. Then go on to Rate my professor and see the general opinion of the prof. Remember to read the majority of them though, one bad comment does not mean that the professor will be horrible.

Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success. If you love what you do in life, you will be a success!!
