Now I'm trying to decide between Electrical Engineering and EngSci at UofT. My focus is to attend law school after my undergraduate degree (Don't tell me not to pursue engineering first). What would be a better option?

well, all i've heard of about engsci is how difficult the courseload is. with ECE you'll still have a hard workload but it doesn't have the same deathly reputation that engsci does so ECE maybe because it'll give you better chances of getting a higher gpa?

If you aren't afraid of the workload, I'd say engineering science. Be special. And they have nice subcategories available.

ECE would be better for your grades and more fun in general IMO.

haha yeah, however a lot of the eng sci courses are half - semester courses, so thats y they have 7 otherwise you'd have over 50 hours of classes which is retarted!!!
In ECE you will have 6 courses in your very first semester (one of the doesn't really count though because all you have to do is show up for the lecture a week and answer 3 multiple choice questions about that lecture right after class online - it's more just to show you what you can do with ECE as a career)

So what do you think is better if my goal is law school? ECE or EngSci?

Just remember that your first year won't really count so maybe you should go into Eng Sci, try it out and then drop out into ECE if anything. NOTE NOTE NOTE: This DOES NOT MEAN not to try in your first year! I missed out on soooo many academic and extra-curricular opportunities because my marks were crappy in first year unfortunately and I just cared about having fun more than working... didn't really find a balance!

engsci girls > ece girls lol But dont let this affect ur choice. But IMO, any engineering program other than engsci prepares u well for a job as an engineer. Engsci does more theory, and so it's more for post-graduate studies (65% of engsci grads), in ur case law school.

Isn't it just more theory of different subjects (chemical, electrical, computer, aerospace, etc. ) whereas ECE covers the theory for electrical engineering? I'd imagine that the theory in ECE for EE is more than the EE theory covered in EngSci ... correct me if I'm wrong. And that is hilarious Taiyab!!! University of Toronto Engineering 12'

what you are saying de4thx is true however what happens is in Eng Sci you're doing soo much theory of different subjects that you don't get to do as much hands on stuff as the ECE's do because your time is dealing with 5 other completely unrelated courses. In the end however it probably won't matter (other than that the ECE's probably did a couple more projects than you) as you'll learn the same stuff in the end

bijanv is rit...ECE is more focusesd and hands on ...ENg.sci is drop dead deadly cuz of how much raw theory there is and alot of it is not for EE.. but in 1st yr it doesnt matter ...u wanna know if Eng.sci is for u then take in the first yr ..the wosrt that can happen is u wont like it and u can transfer into ECE or any other eng. program..thats it.
Eng.sci is intended for students pursueing research paths and post-grad education.. im in ECE will start 2nnd yr v.soon.. i had to make the same choice.. it was simple for me..i just wanted to use my hands and not be a lab rat ..so obvious ans was NOT to take Eng.sci...im loving my choice
