Pace yourself. Figure out a plan of action and follow through on it. Remove any distractions. Remember your goals and the consequences of not achieving them.

Not exactly innovative, but some kids here use ADHD drugs. Use at your own risk.

It really depends from person to person, I think. If you've have the focus you could do it.

Perhaps the ADHD drugs might help as well, so that you don't get easily distra-LOOK, A BIRD!

Of course they do. Some are extremely dangerous too. That's why I said "use at your own risk". Remember, ADHD drugs are given to ADHD patients for a very good reason.

The kids who use ADHD drugs to study usually don't have ADHD either. Some claim it works for them. Using drugs won't make you smarter, but it might help improve your concentration.

Just drink Red Bull if you find yourself drifting. I personally don't touch that stuff, but I know many kids who rely on it to get through midterms and exams.

What usually helps me out is if i work with another person and tutor them. It pushes me to understand the material and be able to interpret it to someone else. Another idea is just to pace yourself, like if you know you can't stay focus, then spread studying from 1 day to 5 days. Focus/study in short periods and whenever the deadline approaches, read it all again to refresh yourself.

**edit**

Not that i'm condoning drugs, but supposely caffeine and smoking before doing a task is suppose to help increase concentration!

r u kidding me? Red Bull is worse than coke in terms of health. It has negative side effects.

*shrugs* You can't have everything in life. I can force myself to concentrate by sheer will power (or interest in a subject), but the fact that you've made this thread seems to suggest otherwise. Hence, I suggested the use of drugs (including caffeine), which is what a good majority of university students do to get through their degrees.

Some medicines can severely raise your blood pressure, murder your ability to sleep and eat, or really give you stomach problems. It can even make focusing more impossible than before. Since I actually have ADD it has taken me a few different medicines to find one that works for me. I really don't recommend taking ADHD medicines if you don't legitimately have it

You guys recommending drugs or mind altering substances are jerks/trolls razz

OP try studying with a friend (make sure you pick someone close to your level of intelligence so you can drive one another rather than one of you dragging the other down)

And don't study for too long! Like maybe study for 20mins, take a 1min break (get a drink, use the washroom, just walk around, poke your head out the window for fresh air, etc). And don't keep studying the same way. Constantly introduce minor changes and quirks (once in awhile, not too often or it's just distracting) to the way you study and you'll be able to focus tons tons tons better.

edit: not like anyone gives a crap but why the hell would you post this in "where will you be?" anyways

1. Turn off tv/computer/phone. If you don't then you're not being serious about it.
2. Find a good work environment. No couches, no beds. Use a desk, or at least a table.
3. Figure out when you work best (for example, I can concentrate around 7pm, so I usually start studying around then for the few days before a test).
4. Try to make studying fun, or somewhat engaging. This can be as simple as an attitude change, or making it into kind of a game. Think about what you're studying as you're studying it. Try asking yourself "what if?" questions and trying to figure them out based on what you know. Do whatever works.
5. Don't fight against your natural learning style. If you're an audio, don't write out your notes 349085670 times. Read them out loud.
