Hey im just wondering how the school spirit and student life is at uoft downtown if i were to live on res. Is there good nightlife?

Basically would it be a positive experience or will it just be study study study? Im hoping for the first one

It definitely won't be study, study, study if you don't want it to be. You're downtown, there's a million and one things to do. The nightlife is basically clubbing, but if that's not your scene, theres other things you can find to do.

I had a related question... is it hard to meet ppl at UTSG because of the large number of undergrads?? Also, I keep hearing about HUGE classes... will that pose a serious problem?

UTSG makes it really hard for their first year students to NOT make friends. If you're scared about meeting ppl then you should join the welcome seminars they have at the different colleges, and the FLCs (first year learning communities). For the FLCs they choose around 25 ppl and you guys do a bunch of fun activities together, and they make sure those same ppl are in your classes. Its a really nice way to meet ppl =)

dont worry : ) if anything ill be your friend, im like the only grade 12 from my high school going to UT for commerce =P

I think staying in residence guarantees you like 1000 friends already lol.
I was looking at the facebook group and everyone that's staying in res is either an international student or comes from random parts of Canada. So they'll be looking to make friends just as bad as you will.
Us commuters will have to 'introduce' ourselves to the person sitting next to us in a lecture or sumtin.

Probably the biggest one, it's going to be full of lonely people looking to make new friends.

I'm going to stay in rez even though I'm from Toronto haha razz Don't listen to people who say it's hard to make friends in a big school...think about it, with more people there's a greater chance of you meeting people you get along GREAT with. smile Plus I'm sure there'll be all kinds of different cool people you'll get to meet!

Share your falculty and your college please. smile

yeah the problem with UTSG is that it IS so big so you don't really SEE all the school spirit (also 80% of the school are commuters) however there IS a lot of school spirit and you'll see it everywhere if you look out for it.

I can guarantee that you will NEVER be bored at UofT because there are so many things to do and see
