You guys are pretty hilarious. Applying for OSAP is not rocket science.
I'll probably get the full amount again (fingers crossed).

scholar27 wrote:Do i need to apply for osap to receive the queen elizabeths scholarship? also i said on the ouac thing i would apply for osap but if i dont can i still get the QE scholarship? You need to apply for OSAP to get more than $100 from the QEII scholarship. If you feel certain that you will not get any money from OSAP there is a simpler form you can fill out to apply for the $100 merit amount of the QEII scholarship.
FAQ's: 1. Will I get in? See: electronicinfo.ca for Ontario schools. If you have a couple percent above the marks there and it's not looking at supplementary, the answer is almost certainly yes. 2. Anything else: Google it before asking.

quester wrote:regarding bursaries and scholarships, we don't have to list the amount if we didn't actaully receive them yet, right? Ultimately what you are doing at this point is estimating your income. While it's in your best interests to get that estimate close to the actual amount, for all that summer income and income during the school year stuff, it is an estimate. They will not send the bogeyman after you if your estimate is a little low (although you may be required to pay them back what they feel they overpaid you). Now, when they ask you to update what you actually earned over the summer, etc. then there are repercussions for not reporting things. So, for these bursaries and scholarships - for awards that you've gotten, and don't feel in danger of having your final marks fall below the condition or loosing it for some other reason, put it down (for income during the school year if there's not a separate section for scholarships). If it's an automatic entrance award that you haven't technically been offered but are quite sure you will get, you could put that down as well, although I'd be tempted to put in the amount for the lower mark range than what you think you will get (unless you are very close to a higher one and think you might get that but feel pretty confident you will get the lower one). If it's an award that you've applied for, don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

Question about OSAP.. Can you apply to multiple programs at whatever schools you've applied to (if you're not sure of where/which program you're going to accept)? And then sort of just cancel the ones you don't need later on? Or do you usually just apply to the program you've accepted?

I have a question.
I just applied for OSAP and it asked to me to choose the name of the program I got admitted into from a list and the options included first year engineering (software Co-op), engineering (civil Co-op). It said those were the first year programs that lasted 2 terms (fall+winter) and there was another option that said Engineering(Co-op) which was just for the fall term. I got into chemical engineering, so do I just choose the one that's only for the fall term? If so does that mean Chemical engineering students are automatically into the stream in which their coop starts in January? Also, do we have to apply for OSAP in the summer term?
And as for bursaries/scholarships. Did you guys declare it? I didn't get my official letter yet, so I declared all the scholarship and bursaries that I got. For science, they told me that I don't have to declare it because they'll do it for me... I just wanted to know if anyone got the letter saying not to declare it for engineering. Since I declared all the bursaries and scholarships that I got, it said that the estimate I'm getting from OSAP is $600.
Thanks.

yeah i think you have to change that since they'll only count the sept to dec term that way rather than the full year one

I just filled out my application and to my surprise I was eligible for around 7000. I didn't want to take any chances. so i was pretty frank with all my numbers. ie. employment. scholarshisp. bursaries awarded etc
however, the osap aid estimator estimated the max amount 11 900. why is there such a big discrepancy between the two numbers. how exact is the final 'estimated' osap amount? and is it possible to redo/ change an application? and does the fact that i plan to apply for the QEII a factor in the amount of osap I receive in the end?

eligible for 8,500 it will cover everything and then probably a few hundred left. and I've got a job waiting for me on campus so its kool. Just need to send in 3 forms (signature ones) I was confused a lot when first starting out especially with the income.

Just remember that OSAP assumes you will be getting a summer job for the two months before you start university and includes in that assumption that you will make $1250, so even if you put $0, they use $1250.

You said that it will cover everything so is it the case that you already have quite a bit saved up or your parents are covering the rest? Just asking because I'm approved for about $6500.

If you aren't yet sure what program you are going to, yes, you create a separate application for each and cancel later.

it's a week away from the deadline to respond to universities, and you're still not sure where you want to go? i'm not trying to attack you, but this is a big decision and if you haven't decided yet, just wait until next week to do your osap. submitting your application this early won't give you priority for more money, so it can wait.

I'm pretty sure, but not !100%! sure. I've decided on the school but there's slight differences with the programs I've applied to... and thanks Kaylya.

OK i've filled out my OSAP app last week, and on the bursaries and scholarship section I put down $2,000 since I only thought I was getting $2000 entrance scholarship.
However, I got a mail today saying I get $3000 additional. So do I have to cancel this app just because of that one line of mistake, or do i just leave it be and let ministry correct it themselves? REplay plz

I'm kind of stressed out because I lost the paper that had the information on it containing the school number, student number and password. I memorized the COMPASS/OUAC 6 number and my password but I know that there is a number that contains more digits. Can someone please let me know if we need the longer number when filling the OSAP form out or if we can use either one.

You need your full OUAC number which is the 6 digits you use, plus the extra digit. You don't need your high school number or OUAC password.
