Bascially,I have absolutely no idea whatsoever of where I am going to go for university
The thing is,I keep hearing about "Oh this programs awesome" or "That programs is awesome-er"
But i know that it comes down to whatever program or university suits you the most.
So i'm hoping you guys could help me decide on which program will suit me the best
Here's some background info:
Name: Ripul Chopra
Location:United Arab Emirates (Dubai)
Education: Around 96 % with pretty decent EC's ranging from music to volunteer work
Accepted:
UT Commerce (St george-Woodsworth College)
Wilfred Laurier (Honours BBA)
Western Ontario ( Ivey HBA)
Queens (Commerce)
Mcgill( Economics)
Rejected:
Mcgill(BCOM)
Still pending:
Schulich(BBA)
Basically,I am an international student and I dont intend on staying in Canada in the long-run as I would love to work in Europe.
So the program i'm looking for is one that is internationally respected and generally good/tough program that would keep me on my toes and smoothly pave my way to a respected Graduate School.
I hear A LOT about how the Rotman commerce program this year has completely changed and it's going to be challenging ivey,schulich and queen's for top commerce programs in canada,any opinions on that ?
And another thing is,I've lived in a cosmopolitan city like dubai my whole life.I have a vibrant social life and i was wodering wether going to a small town like for example,kingston, would have a strong effect on my social life(Bars,Clubs,Concerts etc..)
Any help whatsoever would be awesome

I dont know if you read my other post here: http://forums.studentawards.com/yaf_postst2664_Dont-go-to-Ivey--read-this-first.aspx BUT I would suggest not going to Ivey for the resons i talked abot in that post. You have a lot of other excellent and top notch choices and you should consider those.

I’m assuming you mean MBA? for mba admissions you will need work experience from which your essays, reasoning for getting a mba, references etc all derive. And you can get good work experience coming from any of those schools.

Anybody know what exactly they are changing. The best way a program can get better (in terms of recruitment) is if the quality of the applicant pool goes up attracting more employers. It also means that these higher quality students, on average, as a result of the higher admission requirements will more likely reach better positions in the corporate world bringing recruitment back to their alma maters. That being said, did the admission requirements go up this year or will they in the next few years? If not, the program will most likely stay the same employment wise if all they did was hire some new teachers or have new courses.

I’m guessing you never visited any of these cities (London, Waterloo, Toronto, Kingston)? If you prefer the downtown night life as opposed to just residence parties then UofT,McGill and Schulich would be better for this factor. If you like the university town environment than the others are better.

Yeah i read it and its was really informative,thanks But you see,schulich barely accepts any international students and I havent looked into queens whatsoever

Hey Ripul, I have a few friends from the UAE here at Queen's - if you want to connect with them, send me an email and I'll get them to talk about their experiences. I'm an international student at Queen's and it's been a great time. In terms of European opportunities, while firms in Europe do not actively send out people over the Atlantic to recruit over here, there are postings and opportunities for you. You can also do exchange in some of the top European schools in your 3rd year. Also, while this might not impact you in anyway, the President of Barclays in the UK is a Queen's Commerce grad - so that's just a "side fact". Also since you're in Dubai and cant really do a campus tour, check out some of the electronic materials below.
