Need some advice on whether I should choose
U of T Scar-Cell & molecular bio coop (with a $2000 scholarship but live like 30 minutes away by car)
OR
U of T SG/Downtown-Life Sciences (I live 6 minutes away walking)
Not planning to live on campus, I am just really worried about the grade distribution, teaching quality, and possible future opportunities.
thanks

thanks Well, I keep hearing that the UTSC campus has a bad rep (has gangs or whatnot), I don't know if it's true. But their co-op program is the only one offered by UofT and it's pretty hard to get a co-op opportunities in biological sciences and even more rare to get $2000 from UofT, so, on that front, there are some benefits to UTSC. Seeing as how I am myself considering UTSG, I'd say there is a lot of prestige going to this particular campus. Obviously, you're smart - having gotten a scholarship and whatnot - but I guess what you need to decide is what kind of an environment you want to study in. The downtown campus is notorious having cut-throat competition amongst the undergrad students, I'd say it's a high pressure area. If you thrive under pressure, then go for it. UTSC, on the other hand, is a small campus, the competition won't be as fierce. So, just figure out where you would learn best, and then go for it! GL

thanks,
I was wondering, is it difficult to transfer into the coop program at UTSC after 1st year? or to transfer into UTSG after spending a year at UTSC?
Is there a grade I have to maintain to be eligible to transfer?
thanks

thanks Um, from what I know, the UTSC co-op program only takes about 400 people per year, so I think it would be easier to start off at UTSC and then transfer to UTSG rather than the other way around. As for grades, I don't really know, but I would guess that you would have to maintain a decent average for a transfer... maybe not as high as an entering average but not too low either... you should call the registar to find out

Transfers between the UT campuses are treated as if you were transfering from another university. As a result it will all depend on your academic results, if your GPA is high, you shouldn't encounter many problems, if it is more questionable, challenges may arrise. Although headstrong makes a good point, it would probably be easier to go from UTSC, than vice versa.

yes, back in Feb. but don't worry a lot of people are not going to accept their offer so more will be given out soon. Also, I was just wondering, if I was to compare the costs of going to UTSC to UTSG how big of a difference would I get. U of T Scar-Cell & molecular bio coop (with a $2000 scholarship but live like 30 minutes away by car) -have to commute for an 30 min to school each day (so metropass every month + cost of food) + coop fee U of T SG/Downtown-Life Sciences (I live 6 minutes away walking so NO food costs and no ttc0
