um so....me, being the pillar of wisdom that I am, decided to wait till May to catch up on my CAS hours. I need 75, and I only have 33 right now. They're due June 1st.
Volunteering is out of the question since they need a 2 week notice to get the reference letter to me, and the CAS forms are due in 3 weeks. (They have like one 2hr activity this week).
Help? lol. What can I do that would count as CAS hours...other than volunteering. Would walking the dog be considered an activity.... (I don't even have a dog).

Creativity, action, service (CAS) The CAS requirement is a fundamental part of the programme and takes seriously the importance of life outside the world of scholarship, providing a refreshing counterbalance to academic studies.
Quite right. IB requirement.

ok. so i'm even more screwed than i thought i was. actually i have around 12 hrs for volunteering at the nursing home (couldn't handle the smell after that), and 10 for band so i suppose 75-33-12-10=20hrs. wohoo

i'm not too familiar with the program but, what about babysitting for a neighboor? You can finish this in 2-3 nights.

No one actually did any of the CAS hours at my school... you'd be wasting your time if you actually did them.

The quality of CAS hours has been disputed before. It's literally a complete/incomplete score that can take away your diploma. At my school, CAS hours are not taken seriously. You could do practically anything for CAS hours, and you don't need it actually signed or approved for IB, that's your IB coordinator's rules. As long as someone signs off and approves the work you've done (as in it doesnt have to be the volunteer place or their coordinator) then you're fine

Get a friend to say you tutored them for 6 months and count it for like 40 hours....get their parents to sign it.

Or fake a signature and for the home phone put your cell number and for the next month answer by saying: "Johnson's residence" Or just put a fake name and phone number and if they do actually ask for a way to contact them, then give them your cell. I actually did mine. I helped out at a retirement home, helped set up my annual town fair, tutored elementary school kids, and tutored high school kids. Well, to be fair, the high school kids rarely showed up to our tutoring program so I basically got like 25 hours for sitting in my library reading. Our school only had to do 40 hours though.

CAS hours are for the IB diploma and require more hours with I think potentially slightly different requirements (it's "Creativity, Action, and Service")

IB at my school is pretty hardcore so we have to make a really neat CAS binder/folder with pictures and answer all these quesitons for each submission...it's a big pain in the butt.
