I'm lost on multiple levels and I can't discuss with them readmitting me and then go about and change my admission through ouac on top of that and quite honestly, i just don't feel mentally prepared to go to university. i don't know what i want to do with the rest of my life, i lack direction or purpose, and i just don't have the organizational skills. i think all this shows me is proof that i am not ready for university. Worry not my friend. If Western is anything like Queen's, switching from Biochem to Economics will be a 2 minute change on your student account. I had a similar situation. I'm now headed towards a Master's in Religion but I had started off in commerce, done sciences in my second year and found my true passion in third. Don't be afraid to probe around a bit and challenge yourself. Ps: If a good school like Western believes in you then I think that you should def believe in yourself. You're not the first to feel a little scared of the challenges ahead.

That's true and i've heard it many times. i've got other things to take into consideration however, chiefly the status of my millennium scholarship. they want you to stay within the program and university you enter and if you change you lose the scholarship (which i think is a bit of an unfair stipulation considering how difficult it is to accurately assess what you want to do with the rest of your life based on simply what you have learned in highschool. most people change their minds once in university and this makes it unnecessarily difficult for people to pursue what they want). This scholarship is absolutely crucial for me to maintain and thus i need to pick a program asap and stick to it for the four years. i'm just not ready to do that. i know i don't know what i want to do. i have no idea of what plans i have for a career or what to study in the future or really what i'm even good at. i suck at science (relative to my other courses) and i have moral problems with a lot of the methods used in research. so what the hell am i doing, getting into a program that not only will i be likely mediocre in, but that will also require of me many hours of the research that i'll likely have so many issues with!
which is again why i get back to being unprepared for university. financially i'm making a huge mistake moving away to western. it's just mistake mistake mistake, one after another, in all areas. i just feel like a huge idiot at this point

I understand, perhaps you could take a year off, audit a couple of courses at a local school/work and reapply?

Heyhey, I'm rejecting Queens Life Sci for Western's Bio Med Based upon the previous posts, you seem to be a statistical outlier. Out of curiosity, why Western? There are some similarities in their offerings, what in particular tipped the scale for you? Um, what's a statistical outlier? anyway, seems that queens has this snobby thing going on and i'll probably get the lower end of that stick if you know what I mean. And western is seems more well rounded as far as socioeconomic backgrounds go, plus it's closer, and seems to be WAY more fun xD Edit: okay i actually looked up the word to find it basically meaning that I am an anomaly, which...is mildly insulting but a fair observation

Queen's is sickkk... no wonder he's a statistical outlier ... For real tho, people think queens is 100% white supremesists who are all snobs. From the people I know there, I know going there with me next year, and myself... this is not the case... at all...

Ugh i'm definitely not feeling western anymore. all it seems to be is a bunch of preps who want to booze and party all day. honestly. just go on the fb group and the topics are all on how drunk they plan on getting the entire year, and how they're the best looking school and how they're richer than everyone else (or so they claim). Most uni fb pages i've looked at have a 'which schools did you reject for [this uni]' thread and at queen's it's like "i rejected this, this, and this school because queen's has a good international prestige and strong history, etc." and at waterloo it's like "coop, two universities in the same city, etc." and at mcmaster its "good facilities, excellent science program, etc." and at western it's pretty much ALL, "I want to party. or hot people come here. or coz it's westernnnnnnnnn baby" so on and so forth. stupid people who are fun in o week but irritating for the rest of the darn 4 years. Screw this i don't even know why i accepted western

Kind of early to make a judgement on a school you've never attended, don't you think? I remember you posting about how WLU students act like high school kids a few weeks ago. You really have no clue how university students act until you attend university. I'll give you a hint though. They don't act all the same, and it's more like high school than you think.

Way to point out only the negatives in that group. There's many topics that deal with the school, and there is one of your "What schools did you turn down..."topics. I think you're taking things WAAAAAYYYY to seriously. People on that group are just looking to meet some new people, because we're all heading into a new environment, and not many of us (aside from native Londoners) will be much accustomed to the area for the first little bit. If you didn't know Western was the party/rich preppy stereotyped school then you obviously didn't do much research, but don't let what you're seeing right now fool you. I'm fairly confident that the 1952(amount at time of post) members who are in that facebook group arent all paying thousands of dollars just to go party and get drunk. Facebook is a SOCIAL NETWORKING site, not STUDENTAWARDS forums, so if you're basing your decision that you've made a mistake with Western on what a few people trying to meet some new friends heading in say about getting drunk and partying, then that IMO is irresponsible. For the record, I'm not rich, don't plan on getting too too wasted , and definitely no way in hell am I a preppy, although I saw enough Hollister and AE on Monday that my brain was starting to hurt. Guess I gotta go sit down in Yorkdale this summer and acclimatize myself to the feeling LOL.

I don't think you can really tell her otherwise, you haven't even started at Western yet. While I agree that you can't rely on one or two forum posts, come back in a year and give a real "review", from your OWN experience.

I wasn't trying to tell anybody anything based on what I may or may not have experienced. But she seems to have been upset when she realized that people were jumping for joy at the thought of binge drinking and hot people walking around campus. The most overused stereotype of Western IS rich/preppy kids that use their parents money to go away to party and get drunk, to a T every person that's heard I'm going to Western has said to be careful of the partying and focus on school, right down to my banker LOL.
I will definitely be back on here next year offering my insight to those that are like me and many others right now though. So I will definitely know a thing or two next year.
