p.s. my last show was last night at the kathedral, for the flatliners/st alvia cartel/etc. did anyone else go?
p.p.s. was wondering how often bands come around to universities (apart from U of T and mcgill...), like even indie bands. Like, let's say kingston?

i would be immensely happy if it was any number of these bands:
Editors, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, We are Scientists, Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, or The New Pornographers. I somehow doubt it. The Arcade Fire would also be nice (and probably more likely).

Strokes is alllllright...I've always had trouble getting into their stuff. I think we are scientists gets boring after awhile. Arcade fire would be interesting (but not shaking exciting)...anybody know if they travel with their more non-standard instruments? Redrose, I also hate Hedley =_= Anybody like Crystal Castles? They came to Calgary a couple of months ago and I'm killing myself for missing them. wow, the deathcab, stars and rogue wave combo works so well together. i like SOME deathcab, hate stars and am apathetic about rogue. hope you have fun at that concert! Calgary is boring, I can never find an affordable concert. UWO 2012

Metric sucks.
We have quite a few bands coming to play in Kingston (try seeing if either the Ale House website has a calendar of events, or Stages) and we just got a big new entertainment venue so I am guessing those shows will be bigger and cost more.
Best bands I have seen live: Barenaked Ladies, Bad Reigion, Rush, Goldfinger, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and some lesser known bands.
Edit: I think my friend is playing in Faber Drive now, I don't really know for sure but all his pictures on Facebook are from him being on tour with them (for example, at the Juno's), he used to be in another band called Not By Choice.

Pinku wrote:Calgary is boring, I can never find an affordable concert. Are you serious? Calgary attracts like the best bands ever.. Though it usually is kind of expensive. I think i've seen 10 shows since october. They were all pretty decent. Next, and probably last, show is Warped Tour in August. Can't wait to see so many bands.

Calgary is boring, I can never find an affordable concert. oh man. i absolutely adore Franz Ferdinand. I wish they'd come out with some new stuff though. But yeah they are fantastic live; i've never been fortunate enough to catch a concert but even watching the recorded ones they completely overshadow the other acts. Nothing like Take Me Out to rile up a crowd. Editors doesn't get talked much about most places but i love them---one of the few bands who sound the same live as they do on their recordings; they don't sound edit at all (at least the vocal part. i've heard some of the stuff the vocalist did a capella and his voice is perfect; they've got actual talent. I remember when i was like 14 i absolutely adored the killers until i saw one of their live performances (again i don't go to concerts so they were all recorded and played) and flowers was just AWFUL...he couldn't sing at all. and that pretty much destroyed them for me)) i wonder how universities get to arrange the different performers for their oweeks?

I can't wait for OWeek, hope somebody killer comes =D And the killers are sooooo overrated. Like seriously, their stuff only sounds good because it's been synthed majorly. Ferdinand is great, but I'm not so into Take Me Out (or the Fallen for that matter, what can I say, I just don't like mainstream). Last time I had an opportunity to go see them, and Death Cab was there as well, but I think I was too cheap to go......... Haha, Virgin Fest is swinging our way, but it's 70+ for a bunch of bands that I'm apathetic about. Editors are alright; they're like a band that I would have loved 3 years ago, but right now they're just not my style. The one person I really want to see live is Sufjan Stevens. I do adore him. Last concert I went to was Kanye West Glow in the Dark Tour (last Friday OMG AMAZING). I really liked New Pornographers when they came as well. Shiny Toy Guns was okay. I'm dying to see Arcade Fire, and I would sell my soul to the devil to see Jason Mraz in concert. He is spectacular live, from what I've heard, and his voice is just so wonderful it gives me chills Please come here, Jason. Pinku: I WOULD KILL TO SEE SUFJAN STEVENS! I would also die to see The Brunettes... but I doubt they have ever even played in Canada. Listening to 'Her Hairagami Set' on youtube live just isn't satisfying enough. Oh Damien Rice too. Roisin Murphy. The list goes on and on... "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." - Winston Churchill________'13

Meh to Damien Rice. =_= I mean, his stuff is good for...awhile. Then I start to feel really nauseous because it's so.........just.....repetitive.
