nope, unless you go for like 4 - 5 hours to Blue (which isn't worth it) or you go to tremblent which I think would also be 4 hours from Kingston

Haha, ya... Tremblent, or Blue... I wonder.

Ya it cuts driving time to Tremblent or Eastern Townships of Montreal (Sutton... Orford.) by half from T.O.. Pretty good.

There are also scheduled ski/snowboard trips through the ski/snowboard club.

Well, it's not cutting it in half, exactly, but you'll be shaving 2-2.5 hours off your trip to Tremblant, which is indeed pretty good. We normally make about 7-8 hours from Toronto (depending on how many stops we make, and including the 30 minutes to get out of Toronto). Same for the Eastern Townships (as eco already pointed out), and to northern VT and NY.

The closest ski hill I know would be Dagmar, just because it is 30 minutes East of Toronto (on the way to Kingston), but maybe there is a local ski hill even around Kingston?

Calabogie Peaks and Mount Pakenham are the closest that I know of. They seem to be about 2 hours from Kingston (they are closer to Ottawa). There are a few in the Gatineau Hills on the Quebec side of Ottawa; Camp Fortune, Edelweiss, Vorlage, Mont Cascades.

Mont Ste. Saveur and Ski Morin Heights would be about 30 mins closer than Tremblant in the same direction.

I found this link on Ontario ski resorts and there is one called Batawa Ski Hill that's not too far from Kingston, and a few more that might be closer than the ones I knew off the top of my head.

Exactly, Vermont and eastern townships are great... better and cheaper than tremblent anyway!

And I quote the name of the thread: "Any Good Places to Ski/Snowboard around Queen's?"

And I quote the link you gave: "Vertical Drop 760ft (232m)"

Now, did I miss something in translation?

And the others are talking about hills 4 hours away. Did I miss something? If you want to go skiing every weekend you aren't going to want to drive to Tremblant all the time.

I believe Calabogie has the highest vertical of any ski hill in Ontario. While I agree skiing on a real mountain is different, that's not that tiny.

There might possibly be places in New York that are closer and better, but Whiteface, for example, is still about as far as Tremblant.

Haha sorry for the bitterness. I have been a season pass holder at Horseshoe for.. 8+ years. Needless to say, if I ever see another sad excuse for skiing I will cry. Especially after the very rare trip out west or east.

I don't think Iceface is worth going to over vermont (better) or eastern townships (arguable, but I think closer).

What's Calabogggy's vertical? And ya, its actaully so painful snowboarding on horseshoe and equivelent.. and blue. I'll go for anything with a good jump park and some good power. Rail parks are fun if u like holes in ur junk and spinal injuries... cheese
