i don't know i just don't think the risks of cheating are worth it (in addition to the obvious moral reasons not to cheat). Who escorts people? For final exams I suppose there are escorts but who would do it for all the tests before that? for final and june exams there are people who monitor the halls and there are always two teachers, one from either gender. i've never gone to the bathroom during an exam though so i don't know if they stand outside your stall and listen for the sound of ruffling papers lol EDIT: we only have escorts for exams and midterms, not for tests. i thought we were talking about exams so that's why

^^ Those ways would only allow you to write so much.
One thing I used to do in HS was write the equations (for math, physics, chem) on a little slip of paper attached to my calculator cover thing. I would keep the calculator on it at all times, except when/if I needed to know an equation. That was the most hardcore cheating I did in high school.

Wow you guys have it so easy. At our school they check your calculator (this is like so old btw), all your pockets, and sometimes even ask you to roll up your sleeves to make sure there's no writings on your arms. Although I did have this friend who told me he once hid a cheat sheet in his underwear and told the teacher he had diarrhea so he got to use the washroom multiple times.

yeah haha i have. i'd never try any of these from 1) fear of being caught 2) knowing that the mark you get isn't actually what you deserve and 3) the fact that i'd have to live with that and i don't know if i could (like what if you got the top spot...there'd always be that self made feeling of being a liar and it would just spread to everything) but i definitely have thought of ways to do it. I think everyone has at some point lol.

ROFL Oh god. It really doens't surprise me that this happened in Russia. We tend to be, er, quite inventive when it comes to getting stuff we need. This is still a bit over the top, though. ;) Schulich BBA 2012

It really doesn't help that one of the other people nominated was the most popular guy in the school (also the smartest guy in the school), and he's in my first period class tomorrow. We do the voting in first period. Did i mention the class is made up entirely of his friends? Its physics, with about 30 guys and 4 girls (including me). Oh joy. Not that its a contest for us this year. We know who's going to win. The cards just fell that way. Oh well, looks like i won't have to worry about writing that speech! We got the results in today. Of course, the guy that i was talking about in my previous post won. Ah well. Looks like he'll have to worry about that speech, not me. Schulich BBA 2012

Lol, My school has absolutely no preventitive strategies. You can go to the washroom whenever you like without a supervisor. They do NOT reset your calculator. For most teachers you can use a graphing calculator. (I know kids who programmed entire english essay paragraphs into there) You can listen to music for most tests (record info and play it back to yourself lol)
For a chem test I found the multiple choice answers to 5 minutes before the test I plugged them into my calc as A=5 B=4 C=3 D=2 E=1 and was the ONLY person in the test with a CALCULATOR LOL.

we can't use graphing calculators on any tests except in math where if we need them we use the school's. we can't listen to music period so we don't have that option at all, let alone on tests.
and most teachers give different tests to different sections, or at least change the question order around.

Thats crazyy. My school has all that supervisor/ escort to the bathroom stuff mentioned before. No music. Calculators are allowed in math. They don't bother clearing calculators though, seeing as calculus in itself isn't that difficult. Its the application to the question that makes it challenging.

They're like $120 and required for high school. At least at my high school.
