Is it worth it to attend frosh week if you aren't living in residence? I thought that frosh week was mostly for people who lived on campus, but I've heard that it's a good way to make friends and that it's worth going even if you plan to live at home. Is that true?

definitly attend frosh week whether you're a commuter or not. during the week there will be rooms in rez that the unviersity will rent out to commuters so they can stay for all of the frosh week activities. even if u decide to commute for frosh week n jus attend the big events n skip the parties, you will still meet people who will form part of your friend circle for your university years. i have friends who have had this same dilemma and they've all went to at least some of the major frosh events and said it was worth it. frosh helps you develop some networks, get a feel for school pride and just eases you transition into uni (all this according to friends who have attended. i have no actual experience, as i am going into my first year of university as well)

I've never heard of a university doing this, that's a great idea. Which school are you referring to sheep?

Friends of mine have done it at UofT and York this past year. I don't know if it is an actual residence room per se or if they just find a place where they can accommodate extra students for the week and place them all there

Definitely go to Frosh week.
There are a couple frosh groups of "off-campus" students only in Queen's Frosh, you still mix in with the rest of the residence Frosh, but you get to meet others in the same situation.

Missing frosh would be one of your biggest mistakes. You meet so many new people and people in your program that may become really good friends in the future and help you out with your courses. Also, frosh week is so energetic and fun that many people wish that they could live it all ovver again, that they become frosh leadders the next year

Heh, I actually liked being a frosh leader better! lol. Anyway, like everyone else said, attending frosh week is strongly recommended. I have a friend who commutes to U of T, and she didn't want to attend frosh week at first but I somehow talked her into attending, and afterwards she was glad she listened to me =)

Frosh week is an awesome time to meet people, because no one really knows anyone so everyone is trying to meet people. As well, it has a very celebratory atmosphere and its a ton of fun

After you graduate from Undergrad (like me) you'll eventually realize that getting wasted was a waste of time and all those friends you made while drunk don't matter. You only stay in touch with the few close friends that matter and don't have time for the rest (I'm a Wall Streeter now and work too long).

But...it's darn fun while it lasts...I'm envious.

Going back to grad school soon at Columbia and will treat the social scene very differently.
