katie_batt wrote:thanks for the quick reply aibrean. I think I'm going to put wallingford on my app for sure, maybe number one. I love tea, therefore I will love the tea room! haha. I'm pretty sure I'll spend every waking/non studying moment in the common rooms anyway. I was wondering, how my floors is it, and how many common rooms/kitchen things are there? thanks!! YES! I'm so excited! I hope you get whatever your first pick ends up being though ;) Wally is 3 floors. There are two common rooms in the basement, both have t.vs and couches... one is really big and has foosball and crazy mirrors and some other really random stuff lol. Then there's the amazing tea room of course which is our big main common room where everyone studies/hangs out/plays the piano/and has meetings. We also have a ton of study rooms in the basement, one has a big whiteboard which is good for any group projects you wanna work on. We also have the laundry facilities which are pretty decent, a pop machine, kitchen, and bike rack down there. There's a kitchen on each floor. They vary a bit by size, the second floor kitchen is much bigger because it has the most people. They're complete kitchens and have everything you need (stove, fridge, microwave, table) everyone shares it. You need to bring your own kitchen utencils though of course just like all the other buildings. All the kitchens have windows that overlook Cootes though which is pretty nice A second floor double is the way to go for Wallingford. Second floor is entirely first years, except for three singles which will be the Hall rep (me! ) the Programming rep, and the second floor C.A. This floor is where its at! I was on third floor this past year and I hung out on second most of the time It's a ton of fun, try and list a second floor double as your first Wally pick Good luck listing your preferences Post em when you're done 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... bananabee wrote:Hello~ I just have a quick question - if you don't rank a residence on your list, does that mean that you won't get it? I know that's kind of impossible if you have say, only 2 residences ranked, but will it be more likely that you won't get a residence you didn't rank if you already have around 12 preferences ranked before? Thanks! Nope you can definitely end up in another residence if you don't list it. It happens to A LOT of people! Unfortunately a lot of the people who were picked near the end of the computerized lottery which assigns rooms ended up in buildings that they hadn't listed. If your number is picked and all your listed preferences are full the computer will randomly assign you an empty bed. So if someone listed all les prince and keyes they could end up in matthews if they're picked near the end. Actually you will have a greater chance of getting a randomized room if you don't diversify your choices... well actually it depends on the building. This will be the case with really in demand buildings, if you're hoping for a certain building that happens to have less demand you will be okay with only listing a couple... or even just that one building. If you only want to list one or two buildings as your preferences, do this. List the room types you're interested in (in order of the type you want most) by floors So you could do something like this: Les Prince Double with Washroom first floor Les Prince Double with Washroom second floor Les Prince Double with Washroom third floor Les Prince Double with Washroom fourth floor Les Prince Double with Washroom fifth floor Les Prince Double with Washroom sixth floor This should help your chances of getting the building you want most! 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... I've only seen Moulton ones, they're pretty good. Whidden I hear is okay too. Moulton has actually gone all triples and singles this year I hear. 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Hi! I have a question ... I know that if we want to room with someone, we have to make sure to fill out the same application and write each others name (student id) number requesting a roommate. If my first choice is Mary Kyes (suite) and then Bates and then Les Prince (single room), would putting a roommate still keep a suite style my first choice? I only want a roommate if I get put into a double room but if I get a suite I would still like to have my roommate with me if that is possible. So how does the room mate thing work with suites? and if do request a room mate should I apply for rez in a double room in another building? Please help!

Another thing...Bring at least 2 sets of bedding for ur bed -- it helps you to cycle, so that you arent pressed to always take ur sheets off, have them cleaned and dried, for that night (you'll forget about the laundry/leave it in the machine)...or u may have an "accident" (someone might puke on ur bed[gross])...and will need clean sheets ASAP.

Hey sorry for the late reply guys, I've been trying to sort my courses out for next year... ugh double major makes it tough. @ kenvin100 That's perfect. You've got great chances for Brandon. Not a lot of people request it first and its such a huge building. If that doesn't happen by some weird fluke you're set for woodstock. All the buildings you listed are great though so you're set! Best of luck though! @ neff Yep that's really good. A friend of mine was like 200th on the list and got an offer a few days before move in! Quite a few people between now and move-in at the beginning of september will: have their offers revoked/decide to go to another school/or decide to stay back in HS for a year. Many more than 25 do this so you are pretty much set. They don't even do assignments for another month and a lot of people will be gone after final marks come out. Just be patient, you have tons of time. I'm definitely really confident that you'll get a spot though As for off campus, it's pretty awesome. The people who live off campus really love it and there is so much to do in Hamilton. Off campus welcome week is pretty cool too you'll have a blast. Hopefully you get into rez though! 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... McMaster Class of 2011 Combined Honours Political Science and Philosophy

Hello, I was wondering how much the roommate and floor type preferences are considered when assigning rooms? I selected all-female because I want to get into Wallingford but if I didn't get into Wallingford would they just choose my next room choices or would they prioritize being on another all-female floor? I don't really want to be stuck in the basement of another building :S. Also how reliable are the roommate preferences generally? Thanks!
