Living in rez first year sounds awesome and all but what about 2nd year and beyond? Are there lotsa spaces available for upper year students? I've heard usually you make best friends and move off-campus with them, but what happens if you're not that lucky?

as long as you have decent marks, you can apply to res 2nd year and get in. granted, worst comes to worst some houses always need a filler, and well, that can be you? but most likely, you'll meet a decent group of people you'll want to live with, either from your faculty (this applies especially if you're from a small faculty, like nursing/hthsci/artsci) or floor from rez here's some info on hedden, where I currently live: there is always at least ONE floor that is designated the party floor. according to welcome week reps, this has been going on for years. don't be surprised by loud music/noises at 2am sometimes. BRING EARPLUGS. the doors/walls are thin. FANS ARE GOOD BACKGROUND NOISE + the rooms are REALLY hot in the winter, so fan is a must to get to sleep the washrooms on first floor are HUGE + amazing not connected to Commons (cafeteria) underground like Brandon, Woodstock, McKay and Whidden are... 2nd furthest res from everything (1st being LP) but saying that, the furthest building from Hedden is T13 and that's still only a 13 minute walk 2nd newest traditional style res (built in 1990) 2nd biggest tradition style res (1st being Brandon) held the record this year for most rez wide formal ticket sales we've got lots of spirit! it's not just BHSc... it's BHSexyyy!!! mac hthsci '11, 1st year rep

O.K, so I just got back from may@mac, which I have to say was pretty great Anyways, I can't decide between Matthews, Edwards and Wallingford What are the merits and drawbacks of each one? Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

I came right at beginning ( literally 5 minutes after may@mac began) my tour guide had on jeans and a t-shirt that might have been pinkish and flowery. I think her name was Caitlin or something along those lines. But yah, as far as rezs go, Wallingford is still tied with Matthews and Edwards. I'm still not really keen on the "all-female" thing, you'll have to convince me. Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

Hey guys, was Matthews Hall great? I didn't get to see it. I've only seen McKay, Les Prince, Hedden, Woodstock and Brandon.

The layout can be a bit confusing but the rooms are nicely designed and pretty big in comparison to other rezs. As well, it has a "quad" system ( four rooms to a bathroom) which is convenient. Brandon is a prime example of a brutal rez: small rooms, crowded hallways, concrete walls...but apparently it has "spirit". Didn't really care for Hedden, the paint scheme was a little institutional. Les Prince, being the newest, can be considered the "nicest" but is pretty far away from just about everything. I really liked Edwards for its architecture, same goes for Wallingford, but its all-female. Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

Having said that, this is only a general rule and you really shouldn't quote me on this one. Edit: hmmm, I really screwed that up, didn't I? Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

Having said that, this is only a general rule and you really shouldn't quote me on this one. This is the way it works North Quad - Edwards - Whidden - McKay - Woodstock - Brandon - Hedden - Les Prince West Quad - Keyes - Bates - Wallingford - Matthews - Moulton There's no north and south. West quad has the two apartment/suite style buildings and is much smaller and close together. North quad has many more buildings much more spread out and many have tunnel access to Commons. The two original residences (the ones with the gothic architecture) are Wallingford and Edwards and are in West Quad and North Quad respectively. Each quad has large and small buildings and each has a distinct atmosphere. West quad tends to be a bit quieter because of the apartment style buildings and Wallingford. North quad is noiser and has pretty frequent fire alarms at 3am lol. Most Brandon/McKay. All-female is actually great as I've explained before. Being in such a small residence like Wallingford lets you become very close friends with everyone in the building, and being all girls creates a really positive environment. We're all a great big family It's difficult to get into Wallingford though. Les Prince and Keyes tend to have the highest demand. Let me know if you guys have any questions 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Right then, aibrean: apart from Wallingford, which rezs would you consider the "best" I should probably add that I'm looking for a medium-small rez that's not too crazy but not too quite either. BTW, thanks for all the info about Wallingford on the other thread! Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg

I really like the size of the building and they have an old fashioned flair just like Wallingford. Their doubles are great too. Other then that.. probably Hedden is one of my favourites. The rooms are really big, the bathroom situation is good, and I like the overall feel of it. Its a bit too new though and lacks character. How were the tours that you guys went on? How about the faculty stuff? 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... McMaster Class of 2011 Combined Honours Political Science and Philosophy

The sentence structure in your previous post was very similar to someone I know who also learned English as a second language. Again, I was just curious. Just for the record though, English is technically my second language as well. Pourquoi?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf94uiIbItg
