Here are some helpful links: Mac's virtual tour: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca/virtual/- This has some pretty good pictures of all the residences. You can also figure out from this which rez might be better for you depending on where most of your classes will be. Housing and Conference Services: http://housing.mcmaster.ca/Residence_Admissions/Buildings.html- Some more info on all the buildings including what comes with your room. This is the site that will give you info on how rez admissions works. First Year Handbook 07/08: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca/EXTERNAL/HANDBOOK/McMaster_2008Handbook_01.pdf- Lots of general information on everything to do with first year at Mac. 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Personally, I wanna live in traditional dorm that's in a medium size residence. It doesn't have to be brand new but I don't want to be assigned to a super old one either. I want it to be close (i heard Les Prince is far from everything) and be a decent size. Based on this, what would you say is the best rez for me?

Probably Moulton, Woodstock, or McKay. Yes Les Prince is quite far which can get annoying. Why don't you want an old one though? They're often the best in terms of room size and they're much smaller so there is a better sense of community. All the ones I listed are in the 200s range so thats not too big and not too small. All of them are pretty equal, McKay is a bit more central.

i stayed at les prince hall in july for SHAD. it was AMAZING. the rooms were really nice and spacious. but i must agree it is a bit far. though mac is generally a small campus. so i dont think it really makes that much of a difference. the caf food sucks though.

Les Prince is a sweet res though for sure the food isn't that bad at Mac in the summer many of the locations are closed so its sad you didn't get to try what Mac really has to offer 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... if it weren't for the fact that nearly all my friends were in North Quad this year, I would have actually wanted BATES. It's apartment style, and so you have a single room (smaller than any traditional style single room, granted) and a common living area with three-five other suitemates. You have a KITCHEN, with an oven (Mary Keyes, the other apartment, doesn't have ovens in their suites) and get to buy a reduced meal plan (since you get to make your own food, something I regret not being able to do more...). It's also close to Bridges, Bistro and IAHS, three of the best places to eat on campus.
Plus, if you ever wanna host a party, you have the space. So many of the parties that went down this year happened in Bates. And the CAs know this happens and are more chill about this than in other residences.
But if you want to stick to traditional style, I'd say go with HEDDEN! We are party animals + nice rooms (unless you get a triple..), it's new, nice kitchens/common areas, lots of study rooms, AIR CONDITIONING!!!, good spirit, etc...
it's not just BHSc... it's BHSexyyy!!! mac hthsci '11, 1st year rep

Hey guys! I have a question for Residence @ Mac. If you apply for the Double Room w/ Washroom, does this mean u are guaranteed to be placed at Les Prince? or are there other Buildings that have Double Room w/Washroom?
Thanks in advance!

I visited the McKay res during my MAC tour today, and it was really cute. It was right in the north quad and was near the central part of campus, so it's definitely a plus.

Thanks in advance! The only other rez I know for sure that has doubles with a washroom is edwards but I think there may be others. Also Les Prince is in super high demand every year so you're not guaranteed Les Prince no matter what unfortunately 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... I'm anxious of actually living with someone I dont know. Does living on campus really fun? Is it going to be an advantage for most students? McMaster Life Science 2012

YEAH WALLY That's where I'm currently living and I'll be back next year as well as a part of the IRC. It's really nice inside as well, wait until you see the tea room with the grand piano. We have huge 19th century paintings and antique furniture as well. Also all the rooms have hardwood floors which is unique at Mac. All the doubles are really good sizes as well, the singles are reeeally big and even the quads are really nice. The one on first floor has french doors! Wallingford isn't in high demand probably because it isn't coed. 95% of the people who live here currently listed it as their first pick! Everyone questions us about the all-girls thing... people think its really catty but its the best ever. Its so small (only 70 people) so you become really good friends with the entire building, we're so close knit all of us and we do actually have tea parties all the time haha. I HIGHLY recommend Wallingford its amazing! 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... I'm anxious of actually living with someone I dont know. Does living on campus really fun? Is it going to be an advantage for most students? haha yeah that's an aspect of it's appeal. It's mostly the bathroom. I don't know... I'd rather share a thoroughly cleaned common washroom than trek more than 15 minutes to class every day! Les Prince is really nice though, plus they have the most singles of any building so people tend to apply there and hope for a single (rarely do you score a single unless you get the 95% average that guarantees you one) When you apply for rez you fill out a sheet that makes sure you get matched with someone you'll be compatible with. Far more times than not you become the best of friends with your roommate and often move off campus for second year together! Don't worry it'll be fine and it is so fun living on campus. Its so convenient and you meet lots of people in residence. It's easier to get involved as well which makes for a great university experience. It's good to get used to independance as well. 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Omg all the McKay people I know WORSHIP their residence. I've never personally been in it but it's got a great location! Close to the arts quad, steps away (or a nice tunnel for the winter) from Commons. It's pretty solid. I hear the rooms are pretty big too! 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... McMaster Class of 2011 Combined Honours Political Science and Philosophy

I know first term everyone in residence was serenaded many nights with fire trucks arriving on campus.. usually responding to a prank alarm at Brandon. It hasn't happened much this term... the fire services have probably stopped responding! jk. Yay! I'm so happy you're excited to come to Mac Yes that Math Cafe is too cool. When I show people around that's the first thing I bring them too. There are always T.A's there to help students that come in with any problem they have which is awesome. Yeah Mac is the best 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... McMaster Class of 2011 Combined Honours Political Science and Philosophy
