I play on 5 high school teams.. Soccer and Track and Field are my favorites though I've played on provincial soccer teams and was captain of my school and regional teams. I was considering trying out for the varsity team at Queen's, but I decided to spend a year getting used to the new environment and allow me to do a lot of things rather than be committed to one thing. (might not have made it anyway) I might try out in my second year if the workload is manageable Queen's Commerce '12

I play field hockey. The problem with my school, though, is that our team doesn't elect captains. So next year, I'm probably going to be the best player on my team, but we won't elect captains. However, I would like to believe I have a good chance at MVP (maybe this year, but they really usually give it to grade 12s). I only play field hockey though, no other sports. Used to play club and junior high volleyball, I placed 2nd in the city in high jump and long jump from grades 7-9. Top 8 in the city for 200 metres (track). Didn't really pursue those after. Also, for eight years, I competitively figure skated. Went to pre-novice nationals. Didn't place top 20 though I played on the Alberta U16 indoor field hockey team, and I've medaled with them at nationals. I'd like to play varsity field hockey in university but I don't know if I could handle traveling and a hectic workload. I guess I never know though, I am only in grade 11, of course. I'd say I'm athletic, but my "athletic prowess" has significantly diminished in the past few years. Where I was competitive in 4 sports, now I am only playing high level with one. I'd suggest you try out for varsity (if you're good enough) right away. Usually the freshmen don't get any playtime so this way the coach will get to know you and you can get more playtime in the later years.

Who knows what TV show that is from...

I played for Newfoundland and Labrador, so not a HUGE accomplishment by any means.. although we placed 6th at nationals which is good for us. I'm not sure it's something I want to committ too, and I'd like to see the competitiveness before hand to see if I have a shot. That way I can spend the year getting in shape for it and I wouldn't have to go to school 10 days early (I think that's when try-outs are) if I had no chance Queen's Commerce '12

I'll be running xc and track at Mac... I potential could play basketball as well, but Im thinking of just sticking with running since it will be alot easier to balance the workload and training.

You'll need to really get in shape for that if you are planning on trying out as the camp is pure hell. You won't be able to walk until frosh week (and they want to see how well you can play soccer after you can't walk properly too!).

Do you guys know why UofT's football team is garbage?
It started way back in the 40's or so when we were playing Queen's (@ Queen's - and we were the best two teams at the time). Unfortunately after the game, some drunk UofT students decided to start a fight and started chucking beer bottles, etc and a huge brawl broke out where 3 people were taken to hospital, etc... it was REALLY bad. The president of UofT at that time decided to close the Football team and there hasn't been a football team at UofT until 1997 I think.
We are pretty much a new team trying to make a name for itself again, however UofT is getting A LOT of sports funding (just got over 100 million to expand the varsity centre and create another large sports complex) and so with that they're trying to recruit some good talent!
