No the Eng Sci "cut-off" is around 86% as I know someone who got accepted with an 86% however it's not very likely to happen, he was just lucky. Again there's no SET numbers for admissions, for UofT engineering it's ACTUALLY done on a case by case basis

I heard it was really hard According to the admission's guy I met at the reception for prospective students, each discipline at UofT has a certain "range". When applying, you pick the one you want, plus two alternates. Engineering Sciences has the highest requirement, while Materials has the lowest. Mechanical is after EngSci, and then Civil. (no offence to future engineers) So if you want to go to EngSci and you have an 85, with alternates being Civil and Industrial, chances are they'll offer you admission to Civil instead. Odd system, but it seems to work. The lower bracket for EngSci is 90.

(Most likely because of the low physics mark) It's a more competitive program than people make it out to be. I believe you would definately need like a 93 average + good all around marks to be in the lower bracket. I don't know why your friend got accepted with an 86, that makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE seeing as his average is way below the admission (like 6-8% under). As far as I know, your supplementary can only 'boost' up your average a few percent 1-3% and it cannot hurt your average. UTSG Life Science 12'

Engsci cut-off is around 89. However, the entering avg is 92. They say they let in a few ppl around 85 who have EXCEPTIONAL extracurriculars though. And I'm pretty sure they place heavy emphasis on math and sciences. So if ur avg is 98 but have below 88 in calculus or physics, then no deal. that's prolly the wut happened in scarboro's case.

Not true. My lowest marks are physics and calculus. Actually, both below 88. I have high marks in english, economics, etc. Also, how do you know that the cut off is 89? Nobody knows JACK lol as scarboro's case mentioned and as I stated before.. everything is done on a CASE BY CASE basis.. there are no NUMBERS they have to abide by!! Yes it's nice if you have a 90+ average but it won't stop someone from an 85 or 86% average from getting in! And it's always done in comparison to every one else who is applying so if one year not many people apply to eng sci you have a much higher chance of getting in with a lower average. This year there was a 10% increase in applications to engineering so the competition is much more fierce then before

The average for ECE admissions is usually around 82-84% and this year it's in the upper range however there still is a chance you might be accepted if you had a good supplementary application and are lucky!

sry, I messed up. 89 isn't official cut-off, that's just how I interpreted it. "Q3. What was the admission average cut off for students entering into Engineering Science last year? A3. We consider a number of factors when considering applications for admission. In addition to the average in the pre-requisite courses, we also consider the information provided on the Student Profile Form and performance in individual courses. Most students who were admitted to the Engineering Science program last year from Canadian high schools had averages at or above 87-88%. The mean entering average was 91%. Each year, we offer admission to a small group of students with very strong Student Profiles and averages that may be slightly below the 87-88% level. "

Even though I had no intention in going to that program it's quite sad that a 78 in physics (where my mark is ranked 2nd in the class) caused me to get rejected. ALL of my other marks were above 87(English) including: 98 Advanced Functions 95 Calculus 95 Computer Science I'm not looking for sympathy or anything but am just puzzled at how they would accept people with lower averages than me just because my Physics mark is not above 80. I'm sure there are plenty of applicants out there in my EXACT situtation (who actually want to go in though) with a bad physics teacher, who will be denied acceptance into this program because of a semi-poor performance in a SINGLE subject.
