Wth, why would anyone do that.. Anyway, wrt school spirit @ UW.. lol, maybe I just happen to meet people with school spirit, but, nonetheless, it's not totally non-existent.. I was a frosh leader last year, and most of these ppl do that b/c they have at least some school spirit. Also, there're ppl like me who enjoy shopping @ UW shop and would get anything UW-related. I have like UW sweatshirt, sweatpants, t-shirt, umbrella, the 50th anniversary poster, wine glasses, dolls, and etc., and I'm actually proud to wear the UW clothes outside of school. And.. you do see random "Water water water-loo loo loo" cheers at times, even after frosh week. As for sports events, I can't really say for the other ones, but for the ones held by KSA, I think we have a pretty good cheering squad. In these events you'll see that we have quite the spirit. Of course, I wouldn't say UW has *lots* of school spirit, and a lot of people do have that "don't care" kinds of attitude toward the school, but it certainly isn't right to say we have none at all.

It's awesome! Everybody has study parties (I've seen Facebook pictures of those), and one day, it's going to be a giant party that everyone on campus will join in the fun!

Okay I have a funny story about school spirit at UW. I attended some of the frosh events in 05, one of which included a football game against Laurier. as I was walking across the parking lot, there were two huge lineups walking toward UW, one was shouting WATER WATER WATER and the other was answering, shouting LOO LOO LOO, and I honestly though the one lineup was for water and the other was for the washroom.

people are really friendly at uw. it doesn't have the same school spirit that places like queens or western have but i've been to uw on many occasions and i have yet to find a person who hasn't helped me find a building or stood to answer a question i had.

I wouldn't necessarily call that "school spirit"... I would call it common courtesy. So basically University of Waterloo is full of nice, kind, courteous people. However, I do believe that no one can judge a school's spirit unless they've attended that school. But from what I've HEARD and READ, U of W is not the highest regarded in terms of school spirit. But it could be that they are overshadowed by closeby Laurier, who has the BEST school spirit among Canadian universities.
